Statement of informed Beliefs Paper

Beliefs are different for everybody, meaning everyone has a different belief system. For

teachers, your belief system becomes a growth mindset on how you instruct your students. When

it comes to teaching you find new ways for students to learn things, but you also will have the

same mindset on how certain things are done. As a future teacher I cannot wait to be able to

teach all the various kinds of learners. The topics discussed are all students can learn, teacher

expectations, students' social ecology theory, cultural diversity instruction, and curriculum for all

learners. In the next few pages, I will be talking about my beliefs on the diversity of these topics

and how I as teacher will do what I can to make sure my students do not slip into the cracks of

diversity.

All Students Can Learn

I believe that every student can learn to the best of their own ability. It is the student's

priority to make sure that they are gaining all the information the need to succeed. It is up to the

students to understand the learning and observation process at the center of learning. When your

students are learning they are figuring out how to be engaged and make the learning process

more exciting. When the students become self-disciplined in their learning, it helps them

understand the learning more than usual. As said in Howard Gardners theory there are eight

intelligences by which a person processes and retains information (Berns, 2016). Finding each

student's personal learning style to create the perfect curriculum to teach for the classroom that

challenges them in the best way.

Having a set curriculum will help give the students a way to learn to achieve while

learning in their own learning style. As a future educator I plan to find plenty of activities that

challenge the students and teaches them to achieve their own success. With set learning styles in

place and using fun activities it will help keep the students engaged in their daily learning. Each

student comes to learn whether they want to or not, they are learning in general and gaining the

information they need. I as a future teacher will ensure that each student is cared for in their

learning and not assume that they have access to everything when they are home. I will provide

the supplies given for the work needed so that it is possible to go home, and the students are able

to go home and keep learning if they would like.

Teachers Expectations

I believe that once a student steps into your classroom you become, they look up to and

look for the correct answers. A teacher can be considered a student's role model and depending

on the type of teacher you are you can influence a student's learning. As a teacher I believe you

must set expectations and the students accountable to them to be able to create a sense of self-

efficiency. Students that know they can do well help them believe that they can succeed in their

learning. A teacher's expectation of a student can help them succeed or not depending on how

the expectations are met. As said by Jere E. Brophy and Thomas L. Good, a teacher develops

expectations about a student and then treats each student differently depending on these

expectations. In reaction to how the teacher treats him/her, the student may be inclined to do

better or simply stop trying (Berns, 2016). As I future educator I believe that we should not have

already planned sets on our expectations of students but wait to the set the expectations when

you learn their learning styles.

As a teacher you set the tone of the classroom and rules that are expected once you're in

the classroom. I believe as a teacher you can create some fun educational goals and expectations

for the students to work towards and achieve, you can create all types of goals like competitive,

cooperative, and individualized ones based on the type of expectations. I feel that students

should be able to create some of their own learning habits to be able to achieve their own goals

and as a teacher you can help them succeed. Finding out where your students are learning can

help you inspire your students to reach higher levels of their learning to achieve their goals.

Every student works at a different level and pace than one another, so as teacher you must set

goals with each student that fit with their learning level instead of having them work all the

same. By being a teacher, I will ensure my students stay on track on their goals by checking in

with each student individually to see their progress. By doing progress checks weekly, it will

keep the students accountable for getting their own work done.

Students Social Ecology Theory

Often students have sensitive issues that happen and the way they can form bonds and

develop, students is like an ecological system. This system happens most for those who attend

school in person and gain educational experience at school. As a teacher you must work with

each student's microsystem to gain a better understanding of the students themselves. According

to Urie Bronfenbrenner the development/ socialization is affected by several environmental

factors that an individual interacts with (Berns, 2016). The way that a student is raised will affect

how they are in a social environment like school. I believe that as a teacher you should be aware

of the home settings of your students so you can know how their home life is. Being aware of a

student's home environment can help you produce better instructional decisions on the material

used for the classwork.

As teachers, you are supposed to create a relationship with your students and parents to

communicate the best decisions for them. A classroom is just one of the social environments

that a student goes through. You as a teacher must try to provide a positive experience for the

students. Teachers are building their own little community with the students and their family to

gain trust from the parents. The guidance of a teacher in a child's classroom is effect when comes

to areas like their knowledge, patterns, and the way a student socializes. Being able to have an

effective communication system can help contribute to the improvement of the student's ability

to function in a mannerly way in a classroom.

Cultural Diversity Instruction

Ethnic Diversity is something you see in your everyday classroom nowadays. I believe

that as a teacher you should be aware of your student's cultural background. Teachers are

constantly trying to gain more information on the students' different backgrounds. Diversity

comes in different forms, not always a different race. According to Berns (2016) diversity is

characterized by "gender, ethnicity, religion, or disability" (p.211). A lot of the time people lose

themselves and try to blend in to try and not seem different, so they are taking on Cultural

Assimilation to hide their differences. This act can be voluntary or forced onto an individual in

some places. Nowadays it is not just American culture our world has taken cultural pluralism to

bring in new cultures to have. Cultural pluralism could be compared to a melting pot due to

diverse cultures mixing in one society and sometimes creating new ones.

When students are in a more diverse classroom, they can gain more understanding and

comfortability with diverse cultures. Students should be able to be comfortable with anyone no

matter their differences. My classroom will be a culturally responsive classroom, meaning no

one group is being favored by another one. As seen, students in more diverse cultures can gain

more understanding of how another student's background is like. As a teacher, I will ensure that

there are diverse groups during activities and that I have culture days where students teach the

class about their culture. I will work as I can to learn about all my students diverse and cultural

background to gain more knowledge and understanding of their way of learning,

Curriculum for all learners

When I become a teacher and have my own classroom, I plan to have my schedule

planned out for the school year. I feel that when you have everything planned out it helps to

make things a little easier and less stressful as a teacher. As the school year goes by, I plan to put

in modifications needed to help fit my students' learning styles to ensure that everyone can gain

an understanding. By checking my students' progress, I can check which lessons are good for

them and help ensure that they keep being successful. I will learn each student's specific learning

styles to help ensure they understand the curriculum in their own ways of learning. I will adjust

what I need to as I go to ensure that the lessons are filled with each student's individual learning

style.

As a teacher, my methods will ensure that every student can learn the correct information.

I plan to break up my assignments if they are too big for some individuals to ensure that they

don't get too overwhelmed and are able to finish the assignment in a timely manner. With each

lesson I do I plan to make it a guided lecture while informing the students the information aloud

to get a better understanding for those who learn better through listening. As a future educator I

plan to do whatever I can to assure that my students are learning at the appropriate level rather

than the wrong. Having a connection with your students helps them gain better understanding of

trust for you as their teacher. If a student trusts you, they are more likely to ask for help when it

is needed.

Conclusion

As a teacher I will work hard to understand the different beliefs that our in diverse world

to be able connect with my future students. I will find new ways to keep my students engaged in

their learning to be able to bring on their success. I work to learn about the different diverse

culturals that will be in my classroom. I feel that being aware and knowledge about a student's

background will help them feel more comfortable in my classroom and in any setting, they are

in. As a future educator I cannot wait to experience and learn more about the various kinds of

learners I will have the chance at teaching.
