1. Does job satisfaction predict quality of life?

A. Statement of Hypothesis

H0: Job satisfaction do not predict quality of life

HA: Job satisfaction predicts quality of life

B. Independent and Dependent Variables

Independent Variable: job satisfaction

Dependent Variable: quality of life

C. Test to be Used

Simple Linear Regression

D. SPSS Outputs
E. Conclusion/Interpretation

A linear regression was run to understand the effect job satisfaction to quality of
life. To assess linearity a scatterplot of quality of life against the job satisfaction with a
superimposed regression line was plotted. Visual inspection of these two plots
indicated a linear relationship between the variables. There was homoscedasticity and
normality of the residuals. Though there were three participants which was considered
as outliers as a result from Casewise Diagnostics, the same were not removed in the
analysis.

The prediction equation was : quality of life = 27.426 + 0.472*job satisfaction.

Job satisfaction significantly predicts quality of life, F(1, 171) = 129.549, p < .001,
accounting for 42.80% of the variation in quality of life with adjusted R2 = 43.10%, a
large size effect according to Cohen (1988).
