Read each passage and make inferences.

1. After wearing her shoes and ID, Anna glanced at the clock on her desk and quickly
run out of the room. She kissed her mother goodbye and doubled her steps towards
the campus. While walking, she noticed that the hallway was empty and the fans in
each room are already turned on.

2. Luke woke up early feeling excited. He reached for his phone and his notification
was exploding. He smiled sweetly and looked at himself in the mirror. He told
himself, “What a fine young man you are. Today’s your day.”

3. Peter and his family were enjoying the afternoon at home. Suddenly, they felt
something. His sister hurriedly hid under the table and covered her head with her
hands. Then his father shouted, “Go out! It is safer outside!”

4. Anne’s mom told her to look out for the fresh laundry as she left to the market. Anne
decided to watch her favorite Kdrama while resting. She lied on the sofa. After a
while, her mom arrived and seemed to be frustrated. She looked out the window and
saw the washed clothes soaking wet. The Kdrama she was watching had finished.

5.Karina went to the mall to meet a friend. She waited for about an hour, but her friend
didn’t arrive. After a few minutes she received a message from her friend saying she
had been waiting for her for almost an hour.
