(Of some special words used in the module)

Bhakti Vriksha: The tree of devotional service, (bhakti+ devotional service,


Vriksha=tree) . In Sri Chaitanya Charitamrta, Lord Chaitanya and His movement are
compared to the tree of devotion, the bhakti Vriksa.

Bhakti Vriksha group: A small group of devotees practicing and preaching Krsna
consiousness under the supervision of the group servant-leader. The group multiplies
(divides) into two upon reaching 15 members.

Bhakti Vriksa program: The overall Bhakti Vriksa preaching strategy, or one of its
local divisions.

Upa chakra-pati: Sanskrit for sector servant. Refers to the devotee who supervises and
organizes 3 or 4 Bhakti Vriksa groups.

Chakra-pati : Sanskrit for circle servant is the devotee who supervises and organizes 3
or 4 sectors( between 9 and 16 Bhakti Vriksa groups.)

Maha Chakra-pati: Sanskrit for the person looking after 16 to 36 groups.

Siksha program: (Also known as the “Spiritual Achievers’ Club” in some places.)The
system of publicly organizing the development of congregational members in chanting
and other spiritual standards. The Siksha program has five levels, gradually leading to
initiation: Shraddhavan, Krsna Sevaka, Krsna Sadhaka, Srila Prabhupada Asraya, and
Sri Guru Asraya.

Shraddhavan: The first entry level in the Sikhs aprogram : chanting at least one round of
the Hare Krsna mantra everyday and regularly attending a weekly program in Krsna
consciousness.
Krsna Sevaka: The second level of the Siksha program: chanting at ;east four rounds of
japa a day, refraining from meat eating, recognizing Lord Krsna as the Supreme
Personality of Godhead, and avoiding grossly immoral acts.

Krsna Sadhaka: The third level in the Siksha program: chanting at least eight rounds
daily and practicing Sadhana- bhakti by worshipping Krsna at home and eating only
prasadam. Refraining from intoxication, meat eating, gambling and extra marital sex.

Multiplication: The act of dividing a Bhakti Vriksa group (upon reaching 15 members.).
New member: A person who has newly joined a Bhakti Vriksa group.
Start up group: A group formed in the beginning of the Bhakti Vriksa program
consisting of prospective servant leaders. The start up group gives the future leaders a
chance to be trained and to practice Bhakti Vriksa life before launching real groups.

Senior preacher: Bhakti Vriksa group members experienced in preaching.

Junior preacher: Bhakti Vriksa group member with intermediate preaching experience.
