Baby Boots
Original Desjyns. by Annie Potter
Materials: 4 ply yarn is used
throughout. This yarn can.
vary across the different
brands, Some is very soft and
some very stiff. Try to use soft
yarn for the boots because it
is easier to work with and is
Teally necessary for the
Newborn size where you use
an E hook. Use EB, For G
hook depending on size. Yarn
needle. A little white glue or
Fray Check. Some fiberfill
About 1 ounce is required
for any main color and just
small amounts for the trim-
ming,
Sizes are approximate. Your
baby may have smaller or
larger feet for the age.
Length of sole is given for
each size so you can gauge
which size to make. Check
length as you finish the first
sole.
Preemie to NewBorn: Be
sure to use a very soft 4ply
yarn for this size. Use small
directions and an E hook for
about a 3 1/2” finished solc.
| Amie Potter Originals
Small (3-6 months): Use small
directions and an F hook for
about a 4” finished sole.
Medium (9-12 months): Use
small directions and an G
hook for about a 4 1/2” fin-
ished sole,
Large (13-18 months): Use
large directions and an G
hook for about a 5” finished
sole.

BASIC BOOT
Do not join rnds unless told
to do so.
Always count sts when you
finish a md, if it doesn’t
match pattern count you needto recheck what you have
done.
Because this is designed to
be seamless at the back, sts
gradually move a little to
right making it off center just
a little from one round to the
next. Adjustment sts are
occasionally added to bring
beginning of rnd back to cen-
ter back. Just make sure you
follow instructions.
Always mark the beginning
of rnd. 1 know some of you
won't want to do this because
1 fit in the category of not lik-
ing to take the time to mark
things. But believe me it will
save you much frustration if
you will do so. Someone
seems to always interrupt and
you can loose count so casily.
Itis helpful if you have a
dozen or so 3” lengths of con-
trasting yarn Lo use as mark-
ers before you start. Leaye
markers in until you have fi
ished the bootic so you will
always know where begin-
ning of rnd is in case you mis-
count and have to ravel back.
Insiructions are written for
small size with changes for
large size in bold brackets.

Tike to put a little fiberfill in
shoe part af the boot befare
continuing. This helps to shape
it and makes adding the sole
edging easier. Also if giving the
booties as a gift the fiberfill
gives them a preity presenta -
tion and is easy to remove.
Bring top edges of boot
together so the 3de increases
on sides maich each other. See
if center front and back are in
correct place. Front emblem
