Club of Law Students proudly presents the 1st CLS National PIL Drafting

Public Interest Litigation (PIL) stands as a cornerstone of the legal framework,

worldwide.
In acknowledgment of the pivotal role PIL plays in advancing the public good, the
1st CLS National PIL Drafting Competition is conceived. This pioneering

Who can participate?


Participation in the 1st CLS National PIL Drafting Competition is open to law
students from accredited universities and institutions across the nation. The 1st CLS
National PIL Drafting Competition warmly welcomes participation from
undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students.
About 1st CLS National PIL Drafting Competition

Participants will be tasked with a PIL drafting exercise. Participants will be provided
with a detailed hypothetical scenario addressing a pressing issue of public interest.
Using the facts provided and their legal knowledge, participants will draft a PIL
petition within the specified time frame.

Competition Procedure:
1. Scenario Distribution: Participants will receive the PIL case scenario on
June 2nd (Sunday), 2024 by 11:59 PM.
2. Time Allocation: Participants will have six days’ time period to review the
scenario, conduct legal research, and draft their PIL petition.
3. Submission: Participants will be required to submit their completed PIL
petitions by June 9th (Sunday), 2024 till 10:00 AM through a Google Form
provided by the organizers. The Google Form will include fields for
participants to upload their drafted petitions.
4. Evaluation: Judging criteria will include clarity of legal arguments, relevance
of case law cited, and effectiveness in addressing the public interest aspect of
the case.
5. Announcement of Results: The results of the competition, including the
names of the top performers, will be announced on June 24th (Monday), 2024.

Important Notes:
1. Participants must adhere to the guidelines and instructions provided by the
organizers throughout the competition. Late submissions will not be
considered under any circumstances.
2. Plagiarism or any form of academic dishonesty will result in disqualification
from the competition.
3. Participants are encouraged to reach out to the organizers for clarification or
assistance if needed during the drafting period.
4. Participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and
respectful manner throughout the competition. Any form of misconduct may
result in disqualification.
5. The organizing committee reserves the right to amend the competition rules,
judging criteria, or any other aspect of the competition if deemed necessary.
6. Decision of the organizers will be final and binding.
Awards
• 1st Prize (Winner): Cash Prize of Rs. 1100/- & Certificate of Merit
• 2nd Prize (Runner-up): Cash Prize of Rs. 800/- & Certificate of Merit
• Top 5 will get Letter of Recommendation from a person of repute.
• Top 10 (Finalists) will get Certificate of Merit & Free Internship Opportunity
with Club of Law Students.
• E-Certificates will be provided to all participants.
