1. Lecture 1 5Ps, software methodologies

Doing something needs logical steps, which are called a method

Productivity: the work is performed thoroughly without interruption. The work is done in
building a product, not done in a meeting. A lot of meetings means less productivity.

System integration: software app is made of differently single parts (components). We need
to link these parts together using a proven method (methodology).

Business-centered: making good software is a business. If we do well, we can develop more and hire
more software engineers.

Budget: the cost that we commit to the customer.

2. The Project P

The concept of project: means a BIG task involved:

Stakeholders (groups of people involved):

-the team/company who do this task (for money)

-the customer who will use the product (to solve the problem)

-the user (use the product), for example the cashier

-financing organizations (the shark – investor – bank): make money by giving loans

-Project managers

-CEOs: agree on what happen between 2 sides

Objectives: finish a deliver an EXCELLENT product (the winner takes all)

Resources: means what are necessary for us to use to do this BIG task (skills, human, technologies,
money,…)

Budget: means the cost (fixed)
