My opinion on the author’s argument or perspective is I agree with the author’s argument and
share the same perspective as I think that public health literacy should be prioritized more as it is
very important.

Do you agree or disagree with the author's ideas? Why or why not?
Yes, I agree with the author's idea because like I said in the question above, public health literacy
should be way more prioritized than it is right now. Without it life can be that much harder as it
can result in higher medical costs and longer stays in hospitals for people who lack it.

What evidence from the text supports or challenges your own views?
Evidence from the text that supports my views are when in the text it states, “In spite of its
evident importance, health literacy is easily and commonly overlooked by professionals,
including healthcare providers and public health officials. By observing health literacy in
nursing, Dickens finds that, while there are suggested techniques and practices to assist in
giving care to those with inadequate health literacy, providers typically do not partake in those
practices. This can result in longer stays in hospitals, higher medical costs, and even higher rates
of mortality”. This supports my views as this shows why we should take public health literacy
very important as it is crucial in the medical field when left uncared for.

Are there real-world issues or events that the text reminds you of?
Yes, this reminds me of what goes on here in America or across the world with people who don’t
have public health literacy. They have to deal with the hardships of having to stay longer at
hospitals which results in higher medical costs. And since they can’t afford that in many cases
they can’t receive medical help when sick and that's a problem here in America.
