collaboration with Technical Committee ECISS/TC 106 “Wire rod and wires” the secretariat of which is
held by AFNOR.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by December 2017, and conflicting national standards
shall be withdrawn at the latest by December 2017.

NOTE 1 By agreement between the supplier and purchaser, fine-grained steels may be speci fied. Such agree -
ment may make reference to the requirement being deemed to be ful filled if certain criteria (involving the use
of Al, Nb or V, either singly or in combination) have been met.

the purchaser, except those intended for finishing the heat. By agreement at the time of ordering, the grades
can contain additions (commonly termed microalloying additions) of Cr and V. The content of Cr is up to 0,30 %

Non-alloy steel for special applications shall comply with the non-alloy special steel in ISO 4948-2 .

For steels C32D2 to C98D2 , the carbon range may be enlarged by 0,01 %, either by lowering the minimum or
by increasing the maximum, by agreement between the supplier and purchaser.

For wire rod intended for galvanizing, the required lower limit of silicon content should be speci fied at the
ti me o f o r d e r i n g.

If agreed at the time of enquiry and order, wire rod of grade C60D2, or grades with a higher carbon
