WHAT ARE
ORGANIZATIO
NAL
STRUCTURES?
Organizational structures are ways that a
writer might set up, order, and combine
ideas in a discourse to accomplish their
writing goals. Normally, this excludes
basic discourse elements like sentences,
paragraphs, and standard punctuation,
unless the presence of such elements
particularly adds more layers of meaning
to help the writer accomplish their goal.
Cause And Effect
When addressing the connections or
interconnections between two things, you
utilize the "cause and effect" method. In this
method, the relationship between two events is
explored. When addressing event's or situation
outcomes, you are taking into account its
results. On the other hand, you are investigating
its cause if you are trying to figure out what
caused something to happen.
CAUSE AND EFFECT EXAMPLE
Let’s say that you slam your toe into a desk
and then yell in pain. Slamming your toe
(the first action) hurts, so you yell (the
second action). The first action is the cause
of the second action, that is, the effect. A
cause is a source or producer of effects. An
effect is the result or consequence of a
cause. We can say the two actions have a
cause-and-effect relationship.

The example is highlighting an explanation
on one stubbing their toe and the negative
aftermath of experiencing such.
SIMPLE LISTING
Simple listing is when things or examples are
listed in any order, characteristics, attitudes,
studies etc., and has a main theme and
information that clarifies and supports the main
point.
SiMPLE LISTING Example
There are three ways to ruin even the best
friendship. Best friends tell each other secrets
they would be unlikely to tell anyone else.

down in flames, don't date the ex. No matter that a friend should follow in their social life.

solution.

Sometimes friends just want a listener, not a

problem solver.
COMPARE AND
Comparison in writingCONTRAST
discusses elements that are similar, while
contrast in writing discusses elements that are different. A
compare-and-contrast essay, then, analyzes two subjects by
comparing them, contrasting them, or both.
COMPARE AND CONTRAST
EXAMPLE
Dogs and cats are both great pets to have. Although cats are
much more independent than dogs. Indoor dogs need to be
walked bathed and taken outside frequently. Indoor cats usually
always stay inside. Dogs also tend to be louder than cats, they
bark and are more vocal with their needs. Both cats and dogs
need to be taken care of, they need to be given food and water
daily, they also need to go to the vet to get their shots and make
sure that they are healthy. Cats and dogs make wonderful
companions but in different ways.
COMPARE AND CONTRAST EXAMPLE
cont’d
The main idea of the passage provided focused on the major
differences between cats and dogs, giving multiple different opposing
qualities of the animals, such as:
“cats are much more independent than dogs”
“Dogs also tend to be louder than cats, they bark and are more vocal
with their needs”
CHRONOLOGICAL
ORDER
Chronological order is the order
in which the events occurred,
from first to last. This is the
easiest pattern to write and to
follow.
CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER
EXAMPLE
The example shown is the
process of making macaroni and
cheese. Some vital words to
show the chronological order
are next, first, after, finally and Have you ever made macaroni and cheese?
then. It's simple! First, boil some water and make
some macaroni. Then, make your cheese
sauce. After the cheese sauce is ready, mix
it with the macaroni. Bake the entire thing
in the oven. Finally, it's time to eat!
