(A/L) Subect Streams ‘The President’ Fund has planned to implementa scholarship programme inthis year forthe students who have appeared and passed the G.C.E. (O/L) examination 2022 (2023) fo the fist sting, and qualified to study forthe G.C.. (A/L examination. This programme is scheduled tobe implemented in all the Education Zones island wide and 50 no.s of scholarships will be awarded for one Education Zone. The said bursary of °s6,000.00 per month wil be awarded tothe scholars eligible for a maximum period of 26 ‘months until appearing forthe G.CE. (4/1) examination 1 Basic Qualifications required to apply for Scholarships 1.1 The applicant should have appeared in the G.CE. (0/L) examination conducted Inthe year 2022 (2023) for the first siting, and be qualified to study the G.CE. (Wu. 1.2. He/ She should be a student in a government school or a private school with no fees. 1.3 The monthly income of the applicant's family should not exceed Rs.100,000/- 2 Submission of Applications 2.1. The principals of every school should inform all the students of their school who hhave passed the G.CE. (O/.) Examination 2022 (2023), regarding this scholarship programme. 22. Principals should ensure thatthe Scholarship Application Form (Annexure 01) and ‘lated instruction are posted onthe notice board ofthe school. Applications received after the due date and without copies of certificates to prove the qualifctions mentioned inthe application concerned, and applications ‘with deficiencies wil be rejected, 3 Selection criteria 3. Schoo! Level aaa {A School Selection Committee should examine the marks of the applications received tothe school based onthe criteria and marking scheme mentioned in 4 Of the Circular. The School Selection Committee chaired by the Principal or nominated Deputy/Assisant Principal, could appoint two senor teachers, and ‘more than one Selection Committee could be appointed depending on the number of applications ‘The applications submitted by the students on the due date along with the photocopies of the certificates attested by the Principal or Deputy/Assistant Principal of the school appeared for GCE. (O/L) Examination should be forwarded to the Zonal Director of Education of the educatior zone where the school belongs to, on or before as per the time frame given in No 8 of this circular. 32. Zonal Level 324 323 ‘The Zonal Director of Education should make arrangements to appoint a Staff Officer to coordinate this scholarship programme. The seledion committees should select the scholars as to 50 scholarships per Zone, subject to the applications received inthe Education Zane concerned Under the supervision of the Zonal Director of Education, a Zonal Level Selection ‘Committee consisting of three officials under the chairmanship of a Senior Staff Officer of the concerned Zonal Office of Education with another Staff Officer and with a Staff Officer nominated by the Divisional Secretary, shouldbe appointed, ‘More than one Selection Committee could be established in case of exceeding significant number of applications received, 324 325 326 327 Inthe selection of scholars, the Selection Committee should be based on the criteria and marking scheme mentioned in 4 ofthis Creular. > The name list of students including the detalls ofthe students recommended ‘to award the scholarships should be prepared a5 indicated in Format 01, based on the sequence of marks obtained. > st of bank account details of the selected scholars (as per the Form 02) should also be prepared, concurrenty. (A photocopy of an active bank account in the name ofthe selected scholar and a photocopy of the Naticnal Identity Card should also be obtained and submitted along with Format 2.) (Arrangement should be made to specify the sequence of name lists of scholars In every relevant format in a same manner, and the names mentioned in the [NIC and bank accounts should be the same as the name Indicated in the application.) {A separate lst of other applicants not selected (in sequence of marks obtaire) should aso be prepared and maintained a file in the Zonal Office ‘The name lst ofthe selected scholars shouldbe certified by the Zonal Director of Education and the soft copies and hard copes ofthe same should be forwarded to the Provincial Director of Education, Zonal Co-ordinating Officers should be filed and kept the copies of applications and certificates of selected applicant. 3.3. (AL) examination, forthe selected students from among the students enrolled into Grade 12 forthe secondary education and start the studies of G.CE. (AL) inthe year concemed. The respective amount wll be diectly credited only toa bank account held in the name of the scholars, after selecting the scholars. 1f the concerned scholar has left the school where he/she is studying in and enrolled in another school for any reason, then the Principal should provide a letter of confirmation in that regard to the Zonal Director of Education. The Zonal Director of Education should promptly inform the Presidents Fund in that regard, with acopy to the Provincial Director of Education. ‘The concerned scholar should aso inform the Zonal Director of Education in writing by sending a letter through the Principal of the school where he/she is currently studying that he/she has lft the school and also including the name of the school newly enrolled. Monitoring of Scholarships {6.1 The monitoring of scholarships atthe zonal level should be made by the Director ‘of Zonal Education of the Education Zone where their choc! belongs ta. The ‘concerned responsibilty in that regard should be assigned tothe Co-ordinating 62 63 Officer. ‘The monitoring ofthe scholars at the provincial level should be made by the respective Provincial Director of Education, and the concerned responsibilty should be assigned to the Coordinating Officer. ‘The over rol supervision of scholars at the national level will be made by the Ministry of Education and the President's Fund, Cancellation of Scholarships 7.4. The President's Fund has authority for the cancellation of scholarships awarded to the scholars due tothe following reasons. |.
