BRIDGING THE GENERATION GAP
A generation gap, an endless social phenomenon, is defined as the different behaviors and worldviews
held by members of two or more than two generations. More specifically, the gaps could include the
differences in thoughts, actions, and tastes relating to education, love, politics, values, between younger
generations versus older ones. This happens seriously between parents and their children because of the
rapid society development with a lot of changes in habits, morality, culture, mannerism, technology. For
example, the world today is getting more and more advanced, most parents do not even know many of the
modern gadgets and equipment their children use in their daily life to study and entertain. As a result, most
families now face tensions between teenagers and parents: homework, sibling fights, boundaries and trust.
Therefore, to bridge the generation gap between parents and their children, both generations have to change
their mindset, develop more understanding and acceptance to each other. Parents need to spend time on
communicating with their kids every day to listen to their stories, to help them tackle problems they have
met. When parents and kids have calm and open dialogues, they will understand each other more and get a
better close-knit relationship. Parents should keep up the current trends on technology, music, clothes and
social sites so that they can adopt these easily and can monitor their child’s activities and can help them in
making wise choices. Finally, learn to compromise when possible and make less comparison. This will
make children closer to parents and vice versa and make that generation gap a little smaller.

51 Generation gap is the differences in thinking and acting between two or more generations. _______ T
52 The quick development of society has lessen the tensions between parents and children F_______
53 It is necessary for both young and old generations change their mindset to reduce the misunderstanding

Hello everyone. I’m Nam Le, I’m your tour guide in this 1-day- trip around Quy Nhon by bus. Quy Nhon city is
small but it is getting much attention from both local and foreign travelers. So, you are right to choose it to
experience the beauty of nature, Cham architecture, the local culture and history. So let me tell you about some
of excursions on our trip. We will start at Ghenh Rang hill first to visit Queen Beach with numerous smooth
stones as eggs lying together. This beach was named when Queen Nam Phuong bathed here. Then we depart to
Thi Nai lagoon to go bird-watching in Con Chim – a famous bird hillock with 10 species of forest birds, 23
species of waterfowls. In the afternoon, we will visit Canh Tien tower in Do Ban Citadel in Nhon Hau commune,
An Nhon district, which is about 27 km north-west of Quy Nhon. Canh Tien tower was built in the 12th century
and called Canh Tien as it looks like two wings of a fairy flying up to the sky. The tower represents the typical
Cham architectural style in Binh Dinh with a square base, 20 meters high and sandstone roofs. Finally, Thap
Thap pagoda is our last destination of the day as it is quite near Canh Tien tower, about 2.5 km. Thap Thap
pagoda was established in 1677 by a Chinese monk when he came to Binh Dinh. Here you can also enjoy martial
art performances by monks in this 345 year-old pagoda. I’m sure you’ll all have a great time with the trip
