Punjab Drug Rules 2007 MCQs

1. In drug rules 2007, Act means the Drugs Act, 1976 (XXXI of 1976)
2. Committee” means a committee of the Board;
3. District Board means a committee of the Provincial Board in a district to be known as
the District Quality Control Board

Schedule G are stored, sold or offered for sale
9. Manufacturer means a manufacturer of a drug;
10. Narcotic, psychotropic or controlled drug mean a drug specified in the Schedule B or
the Schedule D
11. Pharmacy means premises where drugs are stored, sold, compounded, dispensed or
prepared on prescription or distributed in case of authorized agent of manufacturer,
indenter or importer
12. Provincial Board” means the Provincial Quality Control Board
13. Registered medical practitioner” means a medical practitioner registered under the
Pakistan Medical and Dental Council Ordinance 1962 (XXXII of 1962)
14. Seller means the seller of a drug
15. Wholesale means sale to a person, buying for the purpose of selling again who is the
authorized agent of a manufacturer or importer or indenter

26. Shall submit monthly reports on Form 1 and Form 2 to the District and the Provincial

and has at least one year experience in the manufacture, sale, testing or analysis of
drugs.
29. No person shall be appointed as a Government Analyst unless he holds a degree in

a medical store in Form 10.
66. If a person desires to sell, store, exhibit for sale or distribute drugs at more than one
place, he shall apply for a separate license in respect of each place
67. If a person fails to apply for the renewal of a license within thirty days after the expiry
of the license, his license shall stand cancelled
68. The licensing authority shall dispose of an application for a license or renewal of a
license within 45 days of the receipt of the application
69. The licensing authority shall not renew a license without an inspection report of the
Inspector.
70. The covered area of the premises of a pharmacy is not be less than 140 square feet
with minimum breadth of 8 feet in the front and height of 8 feet
71. The covered area of the premises of a medical store, 96 square feet with minimum
breadth of 8 feet and height of 8 feet
72. In the case of a pharmacy, the person shall display the word “Pharmacy” outside wall
of the pharmacy in white writing on a green colored signboard having minimum length
of 5 feet and width of 2.5 feet
73. In the case of a medical store, the person shall display the words “Medical Store” in
white writing on a blue colored signboard with the same minimum dimensions as
required for a pharmacy
74. Appellate Board means the Board constituted under Section 9
75. Batch means a quantity of any drug produced during a given cycle of manufacture
76. Batch number means a designation printed on the label of a drug that identifies the
batch and permits the production history of the batch, including all stages of
manufacture and control, to be traced and reviewed
77. Central Licensing Board means a Board set up under Section 5
78. Expiry date" means the date stated on the label of a drug after which the drug is not
expected to retain its claimed efficacy, safety, quality or potency or after which it is not
permissible to sell the drug
79. Expert means a specialist through university education and experience in the relevant
field
80. Export means with its grammatical variations and cognate expressions, means to take
out of Pakistan by sea, land or air
81. Generic name means the non-proprietary, scientific or official name of a drug as
approved by the Federal Government
82. Government analyst means a Federal Government Analyst or Provincial Government
Analyst appointed under Section 16
83. Import with its grammatical variations and cognate expressions means to bring into
Pakistan by sea, land or air
84. Inspector means a Federal Inspector or a Provincial Inspector appointed under
Section 17
85. Label means a display of written, printed or graphic matter upon the immediate
container, or the outside container or wrapper of a drug package
86. Labeling means all labels and other written, printed or graphic matter accompanying
any drug
87. Licensing authority means such authority as may be prescribed
88. Prescribed means prescribed by rules
89. Provincial Quality Control Board means a Board set up under Section 11 of drugs act
90. Registration Board means a Board set up under Section 7
91. Registered drug means any drug registered under Section 7
92. Rules mean rules made under this Act
93. Drug Court means a Court established under Section 31
94. Sell means sell, offer for sale, expose for sale, and have in possession for sale and
distribution and "to sell", "sold" or "sale" shall be construed accordingly
95. Storage means storage for sale and "to store" or "stored" shall be construed
accordingly
96. Sub-standard drug means a drug which is not of specifications
97. Powers of inspector is provided in section 18
98. Inspector seizes any drug or any other article under section 18
99. Inspector shall divide the sample into [five] portions and effectively
100. Where the sample is taken from premises whereon the drug is being manufactured, it
shall be necessary to divide the sample into three portions only
101. Provided further that, where the drug is made up in containers of small volume,
Inspector shall, take three or four containers
102. Inspector shall restore one portion of a sample so divided or one container, as the
case may be, to the person from whom he takes it
103. One portion of sample inspector shall send to the Government Analyst concerned for
test and analysis
104. Second portion of sample shall send to the Chairman, Provincial Quality Control
Board or the Central Licensing Board or the Registration Board, as the case may be
105. Third portion of sample shall send to the warrantor
106. Fourth portion of sample shall send to the person purporting to be its manufacturer or
importer, as the case may be
107. Foreign matter which is visible to the naked eye, and the sample is such that it cannot
or need not be divided shall produce the same before the Drug Court or the Central
Licensing Board or the Registration Board, as the case may be
108. Exports, imports, manufactures for sale or sells any spurious drug or any drug
109. which is not registered or without a license shall be punishable with imprisonment for
a term which shall not be less than five years or more than ten years and with fine
which may extend to five lakh rupees

Central council means the pharmacy council of Pakistan established under section 3
Pakistan pharmacist association means the association registered under the society’s
registration act 1860
Pharmacist means a person who is registered under section 24 in register A or Register B
Provincial council means the pharmacy council of a province established under section 3
