sets in the U.S. These devices used photographic film in mail-in cartridges to record
the channels viewed by the consumer and thus determine audience size. Later they
developed electronic methods of data collection and transmission. In 1996, AC
Nielsen split off this part of its operations into a separate company called Nielsen
Media Research (NMR), which operated as an independent company until it was
acquired by Dutch conglomerate VNU in 1999.

Prod Ref DFAI Project Description: (March10 to July 10)

Clients utilize the ‘Drug Fact Active Ingredient’ (DFAI) characteristic for subtotal
placement and view the individual ingredients via the characteristics delivered on
their database. It is very common for this characteristic to have multiple values (i.e.
multiple active ingredients are present in the product). Since spec cannot currently
utilize the multiple values supplied by the Product Reference database, the multiple
char values are concatenated together within a single value. Because the names of
the active ingredients are often lengthy, however, the default “overflow” value is
assigned to the characteristic. The assignment of this value causes a loss in data
granularity that prevents the assignment of the item to the correct subtotals without
UPC coding. It also prevents the client from viewing the individual drug fact
ingredients in the characteristics delivered on their database.
Prod Ref DFAI Project is to achieve parity with item master on the multiple
char value replication for the drug fact active ingredients on the products by
enhancing the PRO-ETL, to replicate the multi value characteristics by achieving
parity with what is on the item master, subtotal coding on spec using the multiple
char value will be greatly facilitated.
