Direct to man from off his radiant throne; Too narrow and too strait, for worldly pride, In living, flaming characters of light,
That those who gladly should the light receive, And gaudy trappings, vain, with which he loves It still remains, "The wise shall understand."
And follow where it led, should here enjoy To deck his poor, frail tenement of clay,
A glorious foretaste of the bliss of Heaven. Full soon he turns aside, to folly clings, Thus spoke the Angel to.the Seer beloved :
It is God's Holy Word, immutable, And in his own self-righteousness exclaims : " 0, Daniel, thou, the vision close and seal;

These all are nought but foolishness with God.
Secure, with which to be protected then,
The least the truth may know, so plain it is, Such a fulfillment we shall ne'er behold;
For what portends it, or proclaims it, what? Will well become him in the day of IIis
And known and followed, leads us through to Heaven.
Why then in useless toil our strength exhaust, Unmingled wrath, and awful vengeance dire,
Our daily course defined, and duty shown,
On secret, hidden things, from which to draw Which day, appointed,. God will surely bring.
Indebted more to mercy infinite,
For man to thus prepare, is wisdom true,
in that ere His designs he consummates, But idle, groundless theories, at best !
But folly, worse than folly, to defer.
Or mighty schemes perfects, or judgments sends Live up to what of truth we already know ;
Time of the end ! When is it7 Who shall know ?

And to his chosen ones, the prophets, men 0, peace and safety ! Baneful sentiment! Who would not know, and so in time prepare

For what in worldliness they wish might be,

Till forced belief proclaims the phantom true.
