This entails the application of the principles outlined in the National Early Learning Framework (NELF) to develop materials fostering a comprehensive early childhood program tailored for 4-year-old children in child development centers (CDC). Ultimately, the goal isto facilitate the optimal growth and development of young Filipino learners. The Specific Objectives: At the end of each session, CDC workers and volunteers are ‘expected to achieve the following objectives: 1. Develop a scope and sequence of standards and learning competencies for an entire school year based on Learning Resource Packages 1, 2, 4, and 6. 2. Generate children's stories and poems suitable for a 40-week duration or one full school year, incorporating the following learning foci: a. Focus theme b. Focus values <. Focus language competencies d. Focus literacy and numeracy competencies 3. Construct a weekly session guide that effectively implements the contextualized scope and sequence. ivity sheets, circle time activities, and games that enhance and extend the identified learning foci per week. 5. Attain a working knowledge of the Standards and Guidelines for Center-Based Programs for 4-year-old Filipino Children, as well as the Registration and Granting of Permit and Recognition to Child Development Centers and Workers. 6. Acquire competency standards that Child Development Teachers (CDTs) and Child Development Workers (CDWs) should possess and apply. 7. Understand how to utilize these competency standards in assessing the teaching practices of CDTs/CDWs. 8. Identify the support that should be provided to City/Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices (C/MSWDOs) for CDTs/CDWs who need to develop the competencies identified in the assessment. 9. Develop a scope and sequence of standards and learning competencies for one school year based on Learning Resource Package 6. 10. Create a weekly session plan that effectively realizes the contextualized scope and sequence. Rationale The development of children across various domains (cognitive, affective, physical, and Socio-emotional) commences well before their formal education in school. The critical period, also known as the sensitive period, occurs during early postnatal life. During this phase, the development and maturation of the brain's functional properties, including its Plasticity, heavily rely on the children’s experiences and environmental influences. JAG Acapemy 2 The trajectory of children’s later development and maturation is shaped by how they are nurtured and cared for by their primary caregivers. This influence is subsequently complemented by the role of schoolteachers when they enter formal education. Additionally, numerous other factors contribute to their maturation and growth as they engage with the ever-expanding world. To empower parents, primary caregivers, and CDC facilitators, we aim to provide them with knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and ethics related to home- and community- based literacy activities. Through simulations, songs, movements, plays, and games, these individuals can better facilitate learning for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. This approach is especially crucial in the new normal, ensuring that learning is maximized at home and within the community.
