Technical Data Sheet LUCRAFOAM E 100 CONC. LEVACO- Defoamer for food production Description LUCRAFOAM E 100 CONC. is designed to prevent or to destroy foam in aqueous media up to bolting temperatures in food or food-related applications. Technical Data hernia description Mono, Bi and Trislesrdes of fatty acids ronicity Non fie Active content [%] 100 Form supplies tiouid a Colour Light Yeliow Density at 20°C [g/em2) 0,93 ~ 0.96 Viscosity af 20°C [mas] 230 Wisootty fy wok < 10% The above data are typical product values and not necessarily specified. For further details please refer to the relevant product specification, Properties and Application Fields LUCRAFOAM E 100 CONG. is a light yellow liquid, which is clear to slightly turbid, depending on the temperature, aiid has a slightly fatty odor. If stored below 15 - 20°C turbidity or partial precipitation may occur due to partial solidification of the product. Further cooling can cause eventually a complete solidification of the product. These phenomena have no effect on the quality of the product and can be reversed by gently warming of the material to 30 - 40°C or by storing it in heated rooms. LUCRAFOAM E 100 CONC. is virtually insoluble in water and also not emulsifiable in water; a relatively stable emulsion car, be produced by mixing it with equal parts of water and ethanol (e.g. 10%). Apart from strongly alkaline media, the antifoam agent is generally inert in relation to the substances in which the foarn has to be destroyed, Common application concentrations do not contaminate equipment or corrode the materials used. in terms of chemicat or physical behavior (e.g. contact with sealing materials), LUCRAFOAM E 400 CONC. can be considered equivalent to vegetable oils. Technical Data Sheet LUCRAFOAM E 100 CONC. LEVAG LUCRAFOAM E 100 CONC, has been used successfully in the following areas of application: © Fruit processing Liquid flavorings Suger industry Confectionery production Distilleries Chemical industry It must be pointed out that LUCRAFOAM E 100 CONC. is not suitable for foam control in liquids of low viscosity (e.g. in the fruit processing industry for fruit drinks, syrups, effervescent drinks etc.). The product does not remain homogeneously dispersed after addition to such liquids. It accumulates at the surface after a short period of storage and may affect the taste at this point due to local overdosing. Dosage and Proces: ig LUCRAFOAM E 100 CONC, can be added to the material having a tendency to foam either continuously with the aid of drip feeders or pumps, by suction devices when working in vacuum, or portions. Since the product both prevents and destroys foam, it ‘can either be added in advance or during production when foam formation begins. The best method of application is determined by the amount and nature of the foam, as well as the prevailing operating conditions and the available equipment. In order to allow more accurate metering and correct dosing, it Is recommended to add the product in liqutd form which can be obtained by gentle heating if necessary. The addition of an ‘emulsion (as a mixture with ethanol and water) may be recommendable in certain special cases. Another possibility is to disperse the empirically determined required quantity of LUCRAFOAM E 100 CONC. in a small portion of the material to be defoamed and to add this initial mixture to the remaining quantity then. Recommended dosage is 0.5 ~ 4.0%/ 100 kg on total formulation, sometimes even higher. However an addition of 8.0 kg /100 kg is the maximum dosage which should not be exceeded, as shown by numerous trials in the fruit processing industry. We recommend this maximum dose only in exceptional cases, Tests in relation to possible effects on the taste should be carried out (particularly in the fruit processing industry). Storage, Handling and Safety LUCRAFOAM E 100 CONC. has a shelf life of 12 months from delivery ex warehouse LEVACO in original closed containers and when stored under proper conditions. ‘The product should be stored in 2 cool place (15 - 20°C) and protected from light, For further information on safety, storage etc. please refer to the safety data sheet of LUCRAFOAM E 100 CONC. available at our company website www.levaco.com.
