Line numbers and their font size in Word

Why would someone still use Word as a text processor? Not really sure, I’m using LaTex. Yeah,
maybe it’s easier, but if you’d had experienced the same problems with Word-Mac-Papers2
(in)compatibility you’d understand why I chose to switch.

Anyways, every now and again I have to collaborate and many people still prefer Word. So each time
I set up a manuscript (especially, when I forgot to use an old template), I find myself faced with the
problem of not knowing how to include line numbers in Word. It’s not particularly difficult, but also
not very intuitive. In an attempt to reduce search time on google, I’ll post it here – Next time I’ve
forgotten again, I at least will know where to look it up (and maybe someone else might find this
useful too).

1) Line Numbering

Format -> Document

Layout -> Line numbering

click add line numbering and continuous

Pretty easy, huh? I have worked with people that got really upset about the default size of those line
numbers and requested smaller fonts. Ok, we can do that to, right? But where?

2) Font size

Format -> Style

Highlight ‘Line Number’ and then click Modify…

There you can select different fonts and sizes and other stuff you might like to change.

Like a crib sheet, I will probably remember this forever now.
