The interference {from radio wave sources) can eaute the powered vehicle to release iis brakes, mave by itself, or move in unintended directions. lt con clio permanenty damage the powered vehicle's conial system. ‘The intensity of the interfering EM energy can be measured in volts per mater (V/m), Each powered vehicle can resist EM! upto a certoin intensity, This is called its “Immunity Level.” The higher the immunity level, the greater the protection, ‘At this time, current technology is eopable of achieving ot leas! a 20 V,/m immunity level, which would provide veel protection from the more common sources of radiated EMI. The immunity level of this powered vehicle is not known. There ore © number of sources of relatively intense electromagnetic fields in the everyday environment Some of these sources are obvious and easy to avoid. Others ore not apparent and exposure is uneveidable. However, we believe that by following the warnings lisied bolow, your risk tp EM! will be minimized The sources of radiated EMI can be broadly classified into three types: 1. Hondheld portable transceivers (eansmiterseceivers) with antenna mounted direcily en the trensmiting unit Exomples include: citizens band (CB) rodios, “walkie talkie,” security, fire and police transceivers, cellular tolephones and other personal communication devices Note: Some-caltular telephones and similar devices transmit signals while they are ON, even when not being used: 2, Medivmrange mobile transceivers, such 5 those used in police cars, fire trucks, ambulances end taxis, ‘These usually have the antenna mounted on the outside of the vehicle; ond 3. Long-tonge tronsmitters nd transceivers, such as commercial broadcast tronsmitters (radio and TV broodcost ‘antenna towers) and omateur (HAM) radios. Note: Other types of handheld devices, such as cordless phones, fopiop computers, AM/FM radios, TV sets, CD players and cossette players ond small appliances such as electric shavers and hair dryers, so for as we know, are net likely to couse EMI problems to your powered vehicle, Powered Vehicle Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Because EM energy rapidly becomes more inlense os one moves closer fo the transmiting entenna fsourca), the EM fields from handheld radio wave sources [ransceivers) are of special concern. Is peasible Jo unintentionally bring high levels of EM energy vory close to the powered vehicle's contol system while using these devices. This can offect powered vebiele movement and braking. Therefore, the warnings listed below are recommended to preven! possible interference with the coniral system of the powered vehicle Warnings Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) from sources such 03 radia stations, TV stations, amateur rodio (HAM) transmitters, twoway radios ond callular phones, can offect alectic vahicles. Following the warnings listed below should reduce the chance of unintended broke release or mabile vehicle maverert, which could resut in serious injury 1. DO NOT operate or tutn ON handheld personal communication devices, such os Citizens Band (C8) radios ‘and cellular phones while the vehicle is turned on, 2. Be aware of nearby transminers, such ax radio er TV stations and try 10 avoid coming close fo them 3. fF unintended moverant or broke release occu's, turn the vehicle off as soon os itis sfe. 4. Be aware that adding occessories or components or modifying the vehicle may make it more susceptible fo interference from redio weve saurces Note: There is no easy way to evaluate their effect on the overall immunity of the vehicle 5. Report all incidenis of unintended movement or brake release fo the mobile vehicle manufocturer, and note whether there is 0 rovrce of EMI nearby.
