VERB TENSES

We use different tenses of verbs in sentences depending on


when the action took place.

Past tense Present tense Future tense


Actions happened Actions happening Action hasn’t

+She/He add -s or -es
+ Most verbs add -ed to the end of the verb. + Most verbs add will
to the end +You/I/We/They do in front of the verb
Sounds of -ed (d) (ed) not change the verb

Irregular past tense


Verbs do not follow past tense rules
Go – went. Grow – grew. Have – had.
Give – gave. Think – thought. Buy – bought.
Say – said. Find – found. Do – did.
Feel – felt. Get – got. Take – took
Write – wrote
