Intervals

Intervals
An interval is the distance between two notes. Now, these intervals can
described as:

a) Major
b) Minor
c) Perfect

The interval of a second can be described as minor and major. A minor second
interval has a distance of a semitone.

The interval of a major second has a distance of a tone (2 semitones):

The interval of a third can be described as minor and major. A minor third
interval has a distance of 3 semitones:

A major third interval has a distance of 4 semitones:

The intervals of a fourth and a fifth are described as perfect intervals along with
the octave interval which is also perfect. There are 5 semitones in a perfect
fourth and 7 semitones in a perfect fifth.

It is important to remember that there is a perfect fourth between the F and Bb


and a perfect fifth between Bb and F.
