routers.
LinkSys routers are Iairly simple to setup, even Ior inexperienced users.
LinkSys Router Setup

Even though the diIIerent models oI LinkSys routers may diIIer, the general design Ior setup is
very similar Ior all oI them.

LinkSys Router Configuration
LinkSys routers now ship with a Setup Wizard
which is intended to simplIy basic conIiguration
tasks.
We do not recommend the LinkSys Setup
Wizard Ior two reasons:
O The Setup Wizard is not signiIicantly
easier than the regular conIiguration
menus
O II you use the Setup Wizard, you will end
up learning two interIaces Ior your
LinkSys router instead oI just one
The best course oI action would be to open your
web browser (Mozilla FireIox, Internet Explorer, etc.) and enter the Iollowing URL:
http://192.168.1.1/
You will now be prompted to enter your Username and Password.
Logging in to a Linksys Router
Leave the Username Iield blank and enter your Router`s password (the deIault password is
'admin).

Once you are past the login screen, you have access to (and can change) a plethora oI
conIiguration options Ior your router.
Don`t be worried by the enormous number and variety oI options, your LinkSys router ships with
deIault settings that enable it to work right out oI the box in most environments.
From here the conIiguration options that you choose are largely up to your own personal
preIerence.
II this is a wireless router, we recommend that you consider setting an SSID to identiIy the router
as your own and conIiguring WEP to encrypt your wireless traIIic.
