C-POWER 2.3 Breaker Rating Selection and Neutral Settin The correct breaker rating selection is mandatory for accurate metering, Refer the side label on the Release for keeping correct rating of the breaker. For example, if breaker rating is 1600A, then set the positions of the DIP switches provided on the front side of Release as follows: R1 & R3 DIP switches should be DOWN R2 & R4 DIP switches should be kept UP. Fig. AFront side of Release Fig. B Side label for breaker rating selection Note: If the Current transformers are changed during retrofitting or maintenance to any other rating in a breaker then corresponding breaker rating setting dip switches need to be changed as itis directly proportional to metering. Any wrong selection will lead to wrong metering. Neutral protection settings can be done using the DIP switches N1 & N2. Refer above diagram. \ C-POWER 3. ICs the let through energy of a breaker in the fault clearing condition. I?t can be enabled or disabled, Itis available in short circuit & ground fault protection. When kept offidisabled, the Release follows the preset time delay in short circuit & ground fault conditions. i.e. it will trip in definite time delay. Eg. Breaker rating; 1000A, Short circuit pick-up (Is): 2In, time delay (ts):0.4 s, It: off, fault current: 200A, the trip time is 400ms+/-40ms. When [tis on/enabled, then release follows the characteristics for the preset delay i.e. it will take more time than the preset time delay. Eg. In above condition, the trip time is 10 s. |?t plays an important role during time discrimination. 3.3 Thermal memory: Every time electrical power system is overloaded, there are thermal stresses induced in the system. Thermal stresses caused by repetitive overload faults, can damage the insulation material used in power system, if the threshold temperature is exceeded (Threshold temperature is the maximum operating temperature). The thermal memory feature Releases ¢-OWER record the thermal stresses induced in the system. This thermal memory ensures reduced tripping time in case of subsequent overload faults. Hot/Cold curves take into account integrated heating effects to offer closer protection to the system. ‘noe st asoet tna cae onan ‘inet here mee) renal toner ttt ee ‘neuen ae 2 /i~ Température 5 pane un te cet cI oa) © | cperating temperature ema ‘Fou aro If time delay for overload protection is set at ‘x’ sec, then a release without thermal memory trips the ACB in ‘x’ sec each time an overload fault occurs, even if itis of a repetitive nature. Line for threshold temperature of insulation depicts such a case, where temperature overshoots threshold temperature, causing damage to the insulation, However, protection Releases inc-FOWER ACBs are intelligent to detect a repetitive fault. Here, thermal memory takes into account the stresses caused due to the previous thermal fault resulting in faster tripping (< x’ sec in this case) of the Release, and hence temperature rise is limited to a lower and safer level. C-POWER 3.4 Release Power ON and Current Metering: ‘SR18G with Display has a four line OLED display (Organic Light Emitting Diode). It contains Header "CURRENT" followed by current in all three phases, neutral & ground. The Release powers on at 10%In in any one phase. Note: Under normal load condition (without any alarming or faulty condition), it is possible to change the protection settings, 13 C-POWER 4. Testing with Universal Test Ki ‘SR18G with and w/o Display can be tested for its functionality with Universal Test Kit (CL904620000). The Release should be tested with the breaker in isolated or test position. The Releases should never be tested when the breaker is carrying current i.e. in Breaker ON condition. The test-kit simulates setable phase (Long time, short time and Instantaneous) and ground fault conditions which can be injected to the Release through the TEST connector provided on the front facia of the Release. The Release can be tested for its characteristics by applying this input Test-Kit can simulate the following fault currents: For phase fault : 2.5 to 13.5 times In. For ground fault : 0.25 to 0.7 times In. PHASE FAULT TEST PROCEDURE The Release can be tested for Long time, Short time and Instantaneous protection as follows: 1) Connect Testkit cable to release test connector. 2) Tum on test kit, do the settings of protections to be tested as per Table 1 and do the testing, 3) Reset the FSD before the start of each test. Press CLEAR & QUERY push buttons simultaneously (Applicable for SR18G with Display SR18Gi) Refer below figure. 2. Press CLEAR push button (Applicable for SR18G w/o Display). For all the tests, push the test toggle switch to phase fault only. Pushing toggle switch to ground fault will only power on the release. Keep earth fault setting off (tg=off) during ofl, s/c & inst. testing. 15 C-POWER 5. Fault Diagnosis with Query Button The fault cause can be detected with the help of dedicated fault indications. When breaker is in OFF condition and Query button is pressed, the fault LED will glow in red indicating the last fault occurred along with the trip info on display. Note: For Neutral, only trip info is provided on the screen. No separate LED is given SR18G | ! = 5.1 LED indications: Power on LED blinks in green at 10% In of load current. Power on LED remains static green, when micro controller failure occurs. The fault indication LEDs blink in red under respective fault condition & become static red when trip is issued 5.2 Self diagnostic test: When test button is pressed, all fault LEDs glow in red. "Release is OK" message will be displayed ‘on screen. If the Release is not healthy, then the screen will be blank and any fault LED will not glow. CAUTION : No or loose connection will result in CT secondary remai voltage when the breaker cat ing open, which creates very high '5 current, possibly damaging the CT and the Release. 6.Current Transforme: The Release is fed by three single tap current transformers of same rating as that of the circuit breaker. This current is referred to as the nominal current (In) throughout this manual. The CT rating on the secondary side is 750 mA. Note: While retrofitting existing SR18G with new one, no need to replace the Current Transformers. ‘Same Current Transformers can be used while exchanging with SR18, SR18G, SR21i. But in case of SR71 and DN1 Release, it is mandatory to change the Current Transformers too. 7. Annunciation: ‘Annunciation is used for separate fault indication. Under fault condition, 3.3V will be available at the respective locations :LT, ST and GF wrt. CMN. This is to be fed to annunciator module. 24V de is required to activate the separate trip indication through An‘ connector. In CT connector, last two terminations are to be used for this function. ALED can be directly connected between the terminations- LT, ST, GF and CMN to get the separate trip indication, Annunciator connector 5 Annunciator Module Annunciator Module : Remote indication of tripping due to overload, short circuit and ground faults. + Can be used with releases type SR18/SR18G/SR21i/SR18G with Display + Individual fault indication provided by three separate LEDs for - Long time faults - Short time fauttinstantaneous fault - Ground fault - One potential free contact rated 5A at 230V AC available for each type of fault + Flush mounting on panel (H-W-D=32mm x 46mm x 105mm) + Operating voltage: 240V AC 7 C-POWER ZONE SELECTIVE INTERLOCKING (ZS): itis applicable in SR18Gi P & C unit. Zone selective interlocking enables faster clearance of faults thereby reducing the thermal and dynamic stresses produced. This minimizes the damage to the system, thus enhancing the useful life available to the users. “Breaker opening p= J e200 me | - ) Pt Fig. 8-7 ‘Single line diagram for ZSI A,B, C, D and E are ACBs with intelligent Releases having zone selective interlocking & are connected in cascade as shown by dotted line. Short time delays are as indicated to achieve time based discrimination between upstream & downstream breakers, When a fault ocours in zone ‘2’, breaker ‘E’ trips after a delay of 100ms", and breaker 'C’ and ‘A’ follow delays of 200ms* and 300ms*, respectively, if required. But in case of a fault at ‘Y’, breaker ‘C’ trips after a delay of 60ms* (a default value), instead of 200ms*. Thus saving your system of seeing the fault for another 140ms. Similarly a fault in zone ‘x’ results in breaker ‘A’ tripping after a delay of 60ms*, thus achieving intelligent discrimination.
