After the introduction of postmodern innovations in theoretical and imaginative writing, there has emerged a rather newfangled view of the historical novel and an increasing inclination for narratives that attempt to reim- agine historical moments and chronicles they integrate into their fictional worlds to pursue a re-visionary questioning. The critical frameworks of postcolonial historical fiction and speaking subalterns have moved on in postmnillennial historical novels and political novels. Considering that postcolonial literary theories and fictional (re) ‘writings attempt to deconstruct homogenous discourses and the Eurocentric (his. tory) writing of the colonizer, itis claimed that, for the sake of textual decoloniza- tion, recent works of postcolonial historical writing intersect in several ways with the newfangled view of the historical novel Keywords Postcolonial (te)writing - Textual decolonization - Metahistory Postmodernist history » Historiographic metafiction - Re-visionary fiction Introduction: the “historical turn” Outlining the wends in British fiction between 1979 and 1990 in his The mod- ern British novel (first published in 1993), Malcolm Bradbury marks a noticeable tendency toward history and historical themes in the novels of the 1980s: “Cer- tainly exploring past and recent history, at a time when its progress seemed either ambiguous or disastrous, and many of the progressive dreams of the earlier part FA Mustafa Kis rikiea@ gmail com; mkires@eankaya duit Deparunent of Translation and Interpreting Studies, Cankaya University, Mesker Kampus, (96790 Ankara, Tukey Published online: 01 November 2022 D springer nce Benedict, F (1995).
