 Purpose of this Guide
This user guide provides Safe Deposit Box functionality for T24 and it allows user to manage the
inventory of physical boxes and to create, service Leasing / Renting agreements (Arrangements)
using the AA framework under the SAFE.DEPOSIT.BOX product line.

Intended Audience
This user guide is intended for the use of internal Temenos users and clients.

Over view
Safe Deposit Box is part of the Retail Banking suite of products.
The BX module provides Safe Deposit Box functionality for T24. The module allows the user to
manage the inventory of physical boxes and to create, service Leasing / Renting agreements
(Arrangements) using the AA framework under the SAFE.DEPOSIT.BOX product line.
Some of the key functionality included is:
 Creation of new Safe Deposit Box arrangement
 Collection of Caution / Key deposit.
 Collection of Rent for Boxes with flexible frequency options.
 Collection of Rent in Advance and pro-rated Rent calculation.
 Recording Customer Visits.
 Unlimited charge types.
 Refund of Caution Deposit on closure.

 Safe Deposit Box Products
Property Classes
The AA.PRODUCT.LINE table provides a high level definition of the business components
(Property Classes) that may be required to construct a product belonging to that line.
The Product Lines are defined by Temenos and cannot be created by the User. A Product Line is
described by the Property Classes which constitute it. A financial institution may then use these
“building blocks” of functionality to construct the individual products which are available for
sale to its customers.

 In the above example shown for Safe Deposit Box, it can be seen in total what
AA.PROPERTY.CLASS records constitute a Safe deposit box product. The minimum required

 classes are marked as mandatory “YES” and which ones are optional are marked as “NO”. The
mandatory classes govern the minimum required components when creating a new product in
the subsequent AA.PRODUCT.GROUP and AA.PRODUCT.DESIGNER records. However, although
a particular class may not be mandatory at a product line level, the option is available to further
define mandatory classes at the AA.PRODUCT.GROUP stage which further controls the overall
consolidated mandatory classes per product defined.

Product Builder
The application provides the ability to allow the user to construct banking products by
combining different business components. PRODUCT.LINES which provide functionality for
different banking areas are licensed by Temenos; each product line utilises a number of
property classes (business components) that are fully configurable.
The main features of the product builder are:
 Ability to build families of products.
 Ability to inherit properties from the product family structure.
 Ability to determine the properties that a product is comprised of.
 Control of default values to be applied for product arrangements.
 Dated conditions for products.
 Full control of scope of negotiation between product and arrangement conditions.
 Control of negotiation of attributes over time.
 Design/Proof/Publish lifecycle for product management.
 The product builder can be used to create and maintain existing application (Mortgage, Account,
Loans and Deposits and AZ) product parameters.

 Configuration
Inventory Management Configuration

Managing the inventory of physical boxes is essential done through two tables.
 AA.SDB.BOX.ENTRY
 AA.SDB.BOX

AA.SDB.BOX.ENTRY
This table allows users to capture the number of Safe Deposit Boxes to be made available in a
branch/bank for each box type. A record has to be created for each company in order for the
system to make those boxes available for rent in the respective company.

 AA.SDB.BOX (Box Details)
This table allows user to capture the details of each physical box i.e. status of the box, Key
Numbers, Location of the Box, Leasing contract id etc. Sytem automatically creates records
based on the configuration done in Safety Deposit Box Entry table. Users can then mark those
automatically created boxes as ‘Available’ and then it will be available for leasing to customers.

AA.ACTIVITY.CLASS records

Each AA.ACTIVITY.CLASS record defines the list of Actions to be applied on the given list of
property classes for a given process in the activity.

 Temenos releases AA.ACTIVITY.CLASS records for product lines and its property classes or the
arrangement.
When properties are linked to AA.PRODUCT.GROUP, system generates AA.ACTIVITY records
which are property specific named instances of AA.ACTIVITY.CLASS.
Hence an ACTIVITY definition will be linked to the ACTIVITY.CLASS. When the activity is
triggered, the actions to process will be determined by referring to the activity class. The

This section covers the following topics:

Opening a New Arrangement

The following menu appears. To open a Safe Deposit Box Lease Arrangement, select the Safe
Deposit Box Product Group. This then displays all the products that can be traded. In this
example, use the 'Small Box' product. By using a product that already exists, system defaults
the conditions of the product into the new arrangement.

 Once the customer is entered and a currency is chosen, validate the contract using the validate
button. This defaults all characteristics of the product into the arrangement. When the physical
box number which is being leased have been input along with any other required changes, the
contract can be committed and authorised.

After the arrangement is created, all the details of an arrangement can be seen from the
arrangement overview screen, which can be launched from the below menu.
