Please describe yourself
Morning Sir/Maam, my name is Adam Gifari, Moch Adam Gifari Hikmatullah, but its too
long so you can call adam or just Gifar.
As a graphic designer and copywriter, I would like describe myself as a creative and detail-
oriented individual with a passion for visual storytelling and effective communication. Im
from Majalengka, West Java, Indonesia, and now I study Communication Science at
Majalengka University.
In terms of design, I possess a strong foundation in visual principles and proficiency in
industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite, like Photoshop and Illustrator.
As a copywriter, I excel in crafting persuasive and impactful messages that drives action and
connects with target audiences. I enjoy writing catchy slogans and article that make people
stop and think. I also know how to persuate someone in marketing 2.0 or higher like 4.0
Can you walk me through your background and experience in graphic design and
copywriting?
I do have experiences with design mostly, and copywriting, for almost threeee to 4 years (?) I
guess. I do designing stuff since highschool, its late 2019 to early 2020, but I got my real job
as a visual designer and copywriter at dpd majalengka in 2022, january 2022. I got my first
internship at last year’s april for 4 months, and then I got my second internship at August
2023 for 5 months. I also work as graphic designer at glimpse studio and my university
marketing team as a visual designer and also a copywriter. Its actually a caption writer.
What inspired you to pursue a career in graphic design and copywriting?
I don’t really have a role model to be a grphic designer, but I knew that I like and wanted to
be a graphic designer after I have that 1 subject at high school called desain grafis. After I
learn about corel draw at that time, I think I like to making things like package, shirts, poster,
and many more. So here I am, being graphic designer 6 years later.
The same as copywriting, I like to write something much more earlier than graphic design. I
do write novel (but not finished yet), and really like things about linguistic. Especially bahasa
Indonesia literature.
What is your SWOT
My strength is I am creative and eager to learn. And I have technical proficiency in industry
standard software like adobe creative suit. My Weakness is … I overcommitment. Sometimes
I take too many projects simultaneously that made me burnout and got stressed. But the
opportunity for myself is I can be a generalist. Because … at the first place I don’t know
anything about adobe illustrator or photoshop. I only knew coreldraw. But because of my
eager to learn and I take that one project in 2022 that push me to use adobe illustrator, then I
use them. But I didn’t know anything about photoshop. After that when I got my second
internship at Kompas Gramedia Jakarta, I pushed to use photoshop. So I can use photoshop
now. My threat is … client expectations. Because sometimes my client and I have a different
perspective about the projects. When I want to do this, they want to do that. So if I didn’t
make clear at the first place, there will be a huge misscommunication.
What design tools and software are you proficient in?
I Usually use adobe illustrator for my daily works, and sometimes I use photoshop for digital
imaging. I also use figma if I need to collaborate with team, and canva if I met a tight
deadline.
Could you provide examples of your previous graphic design work? What was the goal
or objective behind these designs?
How do you approach the process of creating a new design or campaign from start to
finish?
When I start a new design, I like to begin by understanding exactly what it's needed. I'll read
the project brief and ask any questions that I might have, to make sure that I'm on the right
track. This means figuring out who we're trying to reach, what message that we want to send,
and when that it needs to be done.
Once I've settled on a concept, I dive into creating the actual design or writing the copy. I
make sure everything looks good, reads well, and fits with the overall project goals.
Can you discuss a challenging project you worked on as a graphic designer and
copywriter? How did you overcome obstacles or creative blocks during the process?
The most challenging project that ive ever worked on is when I was at an event called Gebyar
FISIP 2022. It’s a music event in my university, but my team and my head departement (its
department of communication and media), out of nowhere didn’t work as what it should be.
They procrastinate, and … in here in Indonesia we called it as beban. So, the ketuplak or …
the head of event kicked them out and it left me and my other friend at that department. Only
2 people at 1 department, and its kinda hard, and hectic.
I solve the creative block during the process with looking at everyone’s job at behance,
linkedin, and also tiktok. Cause in my “for your page” there so many videos about design
inspo and tips. So I watch tiktok a lot, looking for an inspirations.
How do you stay updated with current design trends and industry standards?
I watch tiktok, a lot.
Because in ,my “for your page”, the algorithm gives me so much design inspirations and tips.
So I can see nowadays trend on the other side of the earth. What trend was going, and what
kind of update that the world have, about design and creative media.
Tell me about your experience working in a collaborative team environment. How do
you ensure effective communication and coordination?
I work in team so much time. For now, I become a visual designer for an event in Bogor that
held by Google Developer Bogor for and event called International Women’s Day 2024. I
work in a team and using figma to collaborate with the others. And I always make sure that
we got the same understanding about the briefs, so theres no misscommunications.
How do you handle constructive criticism and feedback on your work?
How I handle critism and feedback is by not overreacting it. Cause I know that every single
critics, and every single feedback will always lead me to become better and better. And I got
cyberbullied on facebook at 2019 when I post my design on a designer group, but people
commented that my work is a trash, didn’t have harmony , and so on. But I didn’t take that as
an insults. What I did is I make those comment as a … stepping stone (?) to become a better
designer.
Can you provide examples of successful copywriting projects you've worked on? What
strategies did you employ to achieve the desired outcome?
How do you tailor your writing style to fit different audiences or brand voices?
When I write things, I always ask about who do we talk to.
If theres gen Z, so I use their communication style, like using yasss, or … not, using, a …
formal words, or academic english. Cause personally, I don’t understand academic english
either.
What metrics or key performance indicators (KPIs) do you consider when evaluating the
success of a design or copywriting project?
Have you ever had to prioritize multiple projects with tight deadlines? How do you
manage your time and prioritize tasks effectively?
I do have a situation where I had to prioritize multiple projects with tight dealines. I don’t
really have a … tips (?) or problem solving for that. But what I always do is sorting those
projects with … when its dealine is, who do I make this for, so I sort the projects by scale of
prioritize.
Can you discuss a time when you had to pitch your design or copywriting concepts to
stakeholders or clients? How did you ensure your ideas were effectively communicated and
received?
What do you believe sets you apart from other candidates applying for this position?
I am eager to learn. I always love to learning a new things. And this interview, this is my first
interview that conducted in english. So I know my speaking skills isnt that good, but I learn
about interviewing in english. And do have experiences from agency, to corporate, in design
and copywriting.
How do you envision contributing to the overall goals and objectives of Spenmo as a
graphic designer and copywriter?
If I become a designer and copywriter at spenmo, I see some ways to contributing in this
company, like Elevating brand presence by creating visual appealing design and copy,
consistent and engaging branding materials, and maintaining brand consistency. I will make
sure that all design and copy-assets reflect Spenmo's brand identity and messaging.
Are you comfortable with receiving direction and feedback from team members or
supervisors based in different locations?
Yes I do. Cause I like to make a new connection from all over the world. And … training my
english skills.
What are your long-term career goals in the field of graphic design and copywriting?
I see myself for about 5 to 10 years later, I wanna become a creative media head (?), or a
graphic design lead, or even creative marketing lead.
Do you have any questions for me or anything else you'd like to add about your
qualifications or experience?
what is the most challenging aspects in this role, and why?
