CBE in the New Year Honours list for Services to Higher Education.

1
Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is an outstanding institution,
and one I am proud to serve as Chancellor. I echo Professor
Peck’s words in extending my heartfelt congratulations to all
of today’s graduands. I have felt great pride in witnessing the
University’s growth across the last two decades.
Special mention must also be reserved for the resilience our
staff and students have shown throughout the challenges of
the past four years. It is tribute to your character, care, and
commitment that you have all achieved so much, and that the
University has continued to develop its global reputation for
excellence.
Through nationally recognised teaching, award-winning support
services, and fantastic opportunities in and outside of the
classroom, NTU offers a truly transformative experience to
our students. Beyond our campuses, we continue to make
vital economic, civic, and cultural contributions to the city, the
region and the wider world. It is my belief that NTU’s ideals – its
commitment to social mobility, its pioneering world-changing
research, and its ‘sustainability-frst’ agenda – represent
everything that a modern university can and should be.
Our ambitions for the future are clear: to continue enhancing
the scope and scale of our impact; and to serve as an ever more
powerful force for social good. Our students, friends, partners
and you, our latest set of alumni, have important roles to play in
achieving these goals.
Following today’s celebrations, our hard work continues. I am
encouraged by our progress and excited by the promise of our
future.
Sir John Peace
Chancellor

Jermaine Jenas's academic and professional background as a former professional footballer and television presenter equips him with high public visibility and credibility, which he leverages to positively influence young people. His career in top-level football, including playing for England and clubs like Newcastle United and Tottenham , provides him with a platform where his experiences and insights can resonate with and inspire the youth. By transitioning into media, presenting on BBC One's Match of the Day and The One Show, he maintains a connection with a broad audience . Additionally, his work with the Aquinas Foundation demonstrates his commitment to supporting young people in schools across Nottingham, underlining his role as a youth advocate .
The Doctor of Psychology in Forensic Psychology enhances the field's understanding by integrating psychological principles with legal and criminal justice systems. This advanced study explores the psychological underpinnings of criminal behavior, aids in developing rehabilitation strategies, and informs criminal profiling and risk assessments. By researching areas like collective coping post-disasters, forensic psychologists contribute to broader crime-prevention efforts and rehabilitative practices that are both effective and cognizant of individual psychological needs .
Jane Rigbye's work significantly impacts public health and youth safety by addressing gambling and gaming harms through awareness, education, and research.
