IMTS is an NGO working primarily in the health sector. Engaged in the rural areas in Orissa, the organization has significantly improved the quality of health care received by people. The organization works on pre health check ups, post cure counseling and training for doctors and health care specialists to work in a difficult environment.

My experiences in the organization ranged from direct dealing with patients to working with traning and soft skill development of the cure counselors. For this purpus, I was force to master the local language, understudy a field operative in the organization. By the end of my work, I could successfully run training camps, build and administer small grass routes programs for the rural areas without electricity or basic amenities.

In furtherance of my training, I was made to visit over 30 villeges and interact with more than 100 people and beneficiaries of the service. Apart from this, I was engaged in working with 20 professionals working in this sector. I was also involved in helping indirectly, another 50 people

in creating materials for training, awareness building and communication. Another useful activity and of extreme interest was the doctor outreach program. Through this program, the NGO brought in specialists from within other part of the state as well as outside. This program involved me managing a webcast, telecalling and regular mailout team.

The experiences I gained were both enriching and taught me a lot about a part of our people and society I new little about. The peple and the way required to help them is indeed something that has explainced to me in no small words about the courage and determination required by any organization working at the grass routes. To this end, my gratitude goes out to my institute for allowing me this opportunity to work and the staff at IMTS for bearing me and my questions. It was an experience of a life time.
