Thanksgiving Edition

Issue 21 November 2011

Happy Thanksgiving! ...to all who celebrate it and for those of you that don't, I'm sure we have a lot to be thankful for anyway! As we approach the end-ofyear holiday season, let's remind ourselves of God's goodness, kindness, mercy, grace and love that He has poured out on us this last year! The city of Len at night. The 4:07 prayer Everyday at 4:07, please pray for Mexico. A missionary in Guadalajara came up with this idea, taken from Deuteronomy 4:07. They have made and distributed around 10,000 prayer reminder bracelets, so that at 4:07 each day a mutlitude of people would be praying for Mexico and the problems it's facing with violence, drugs and the like. Please join with us...Mexico needs it! There is a webpage dedicated to this effort at www.yooropormexico.com

Another Goodbye... My teammate and friend Nick Flesher finished his time here in Mexico and headed back to the States on Wednesday. Him and I also have lived together since the very beginning of AIM! Please pray for his transition back and his plans for the future which are to study at SIBI and be an AIM assistant. Chris and Jeni will be leaving here just before Christmas, leaving Dani and I who will leave in the first week of February. Please pray for us who have some more time here that we may finish strong.

Mexico Missionaries Retreat 2011 This year's MMR was held at the same place as last year; the beach town of Ixtapa. Unlike other holiday destinations in Mexico, Ixtapa is very calm and tranquil which was ideal for the retreat. I took a lot more out of this retreat this year than the one last year because I knew the missionaries better. Over the year, we had worked together on different things and hence, had that knowledge of them that only comes from experience. It was good to hear stories of the work that God has been doing here Prison Ministry Update I continue going out to the prison at Lagos de Moreno every Monday. It is a small prison facility and has around 100 inmates. It is a mixed gender facility but we only work with the men. Right now, we are studying through Jesus' sermon on the mount but we also study other passages acoording to the needs and questions of the group. Those guys (atleast some of them) thirst for righteousness. over the last year. The theme of the retreat was Keeping an Ordered Perspective of the Year Before the Lord and focused on four different aspects: Gathering, the Word, Meal and Sending. The waves this year were the same as last time--huge!

Princeton Palmer Small group I continue to have small group meets every Tuesday evening with some people that I work with. We are studying through the book of James and again, it is good to see how they hunger and thirst for God's word. I firmly believe that God's word has the power to change their lives forever whether or not they see it or believe it now.

Thanksgiving We celebrated Thanksgiving day here on the 24th of this month with a lot of good food, even better I ran a 10k!! Leon hosted several full marathons as well as smaller distance races here over the last couple of months. I took part in a 10 kilometer race hosted by a sports club here and I finished it in 1 hour, 5 minutes and 14 seconds. The people that lined the streets were very encouraging. There were probably somewhere between 1000 to 1500 runners. I did not stay to see the full results after as I had Sunday service to attend right after. I'd love to take part in more races, it was an awesome experience! company giving thanks to a great and wonderful God! Although this time was different in that, there weren't many Len AIMers, it was still an awesome time of fellowship. I made green bean casserole and toasted almond cupcakes and we also had turkey, ham, sweet potato casserole, fruit salad, pumpkin bread, pecan pie and other delights. We also had a talent show afterwards in which Chris and I sang 'Heartland' by Celtic Thunder. Here is what one listener Ben had to say... Thanks...for the amazing rendition of "Celtic Thunder" which made me want to go fight a battle.
