1. The side of an equilateral triangle is increasing at the rate of 2 cm/s. Find the rate at
which area increases when the side is 10 cm. (10√3 cm2/s)
2. The total cost P(x) in rupees associated with a product is given by P(x)=0.4x2+2x-10.
Find the marginal cost if the no. of units produced is 5. (Rs.6)
3. The side of a square is increasing at the rate of 0.2 cm/sec. Find the rate of increase of
the perimeter of the square. (0.8cm/sec)
4. The radius of the circle is increasing at the rate of 0.7 cm/sec. What is the rate of
increase of its circumference? (4.4 cm/sec)
5. The total revenue in Rupees received from the sale of x units of a product is given by,
R(x) = 13x 2+26x+15. Find the marginal revenue when x=7 (Rs.208)
6. The volume of metal in a hollow sphere is constant. If the inner radius is increasing at
the rate of 1 cm/sec, find the rate of increase of the outer radius when the radii are
4cm and 8cm respectively. (14 cm/sec )
7. A kite 120 m high and 130 m of string is out. If the kite is moving away horizontally at
the rate of 52 m/sec, find the rate at which the string is being paid out. (20m/sec )
8. A stone is dropped into a quiet lake and waves move in circles at a speed of 4 cm/sec. At
the instant when the radius of the circular wave is 10 cm, how fast is the enclosed area
increasing? (80πcm 2/sec)
9. If the radius of a soap bubble is increasing at the rate of 1/2 cm/sec. At what rate its
volume is increasing when the radius is 1 cm. (2π cm 3 /sec)
10.A man 2 maters high, walks at a uniform speed of 6 meters per minute away from a
lamp post, 5 meters high. Find the rate at which the length of his shadow increase.

11.Water is dripping out from a conical funnel at a uniform rate of 4 cm 3 /sec through a
tiny hole at the vertex in the bottom. When the slant height of the water is 3cm, find
the rate of decrease of the slant height of the water - cone. Given that the vertical

12.Water is running into a conical vessel, 15cm deep and 5 cm in radius, at the rate of 0.1
cm 3 /sec. When the water is 6 cm deep, find at what rate is (i) the water level rising?

17.If the area of the circle increases that a uniform rate then prove that the perimeter

18.A kite is moving horizontally at a height of 151.5 m. If the speed of the kite is 10 m/sec,

19.Sand is pouring from a pipe at the rate of 12c.c/sec. The falling sand forms a cone on
the ground in such a way that the height of the cone is always one-sixth of the radius of

20.The area of an expanding rectangle is increasing at the rate of 48 cm2/sec. The length
of the rectangle is always equal to the square of the breadth. At what rate is the length

radius r attached at each end. It the volume of the solid is constant but radius r is

22. Water is passed into an inverted cone of base radius 5 cm and depth 10 cm at the rate
of 3/2 c.c/sec. Find the rate at which the level of water is rising when depth is 4 cm.

23.Gas is escaping from a spherical balloon at the rate of 900 cm 3/sec. How fast is the
surface area, radius of the balloon shrinking when the radius of the balloon is 30cm?

24.A man 160 cm tall walks away from a source of light situated at the top of the pole 6m
