Cooling Water Treatment
Application
INDION 2144 is an excellent passivating additive to passivate the mild steel surfaces before starting a
cooling water treatment. INDION 2144 helps to build a faster and effective film of gamma-ion oxide to
safely start using the regular treatment the performance of the regular treatment depends on how
effectively the system is cleaned and passivated. INDION 2144 is used after the pre-cleaning is
complete.

Directions for use
INDION 2144 is used prior to start up of regular treatment program. It has ability to passivate the
system within 48 to 72 hours as against 5 to 7 days using conventional methodology using 3 to 4 times
of the normal dosage of the scale and corrosion inhibitor. It prevents the buildup of corrosion products
even during the passivation period. The typical dosage is 150 - 500 ppm in cooling water. A complete
recommended procedure should be followed in consultation of our sales engineer which would need a
supplementation of other additives.
Limitations and handling
Harmful if swallowed. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If material gets on skin, wash with plenty of
water. If eyes are affected, immediately flush with water for at least 10 minutes and get medical
attention. Use protective clothing, gloves and goggles. Wash out empty containers thoroughly with
water before disposal.
Storage
Keep container tightly closed in a cool place.
