Executive Summary:
The students of FAST-nu were given the project in which they were required to study the IT department of a real life organization. For this purpose we chose Worldcall Telecom Limited. We were required to gain some information about: Organization hierarchy Flow of information inside the organization Flow of information of the organization with outside world Existing IT infrastructure of the organization Existing IT infrastructure of the company Whether the existing IT infrastructure is fulfilling the business needs of the organization Which IT tools are employed by the organization Is necessary orientation to the existing IT tools given to the new users of IT tools in the organization? How friendly are the existing IT tools? What was the initial cost of setting up the existing IT infrastructure and what are the regular maintenance expenses? Has organization an internal department for the developers & quality assurance of IT tools? Comments of a couple of organization hierarchy members over the existing IT tools in use Does the existing IT infrastructure help the organization in decision making?

Introduction:
Purpose:
The purpose of this study is to understand the significance of IT department and the application of IT in the corporate sector. For this purpose we chose Worldcall Telecom Limited. We visited the Worldcalls IT office situated at the 4th floor of Ibrahim Trade Center, at Barkat Market Lahore. There we met the IT manager, Mr. Aurangzeb Alamgir. We asked him several questions about the IT department, its hierarchy, infrastructure and cost.

Introduction to Worldcall Telecom Limited:


Worldcall Telecom Limited (WTL), an Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel), is one of the most reliable and unique telecom and multimedia service provider in Pakistan.

Worldcall launched its business in June 1996 with payphone operations. Amid fundamental shifts in technology and industry, innovation and dedication led to growth in diversified businesses with a range of services designed to serve the needs of the local market. From Cable Broadband to Wireless Broadband, from Cable TV to Video on Demand, from LDI services and fiber optic network to wireless local loop telephony, WTL has crossed a number of milestones. WTL offers an array of services under three major service categories i.e. Data, Entertainment and Voice.

Worldcall Telecom Ltd. became an associate company of Omantel after acquisition of major share holding by Omantel in 2008. Today, Worldcall Telecom has become synonymous with innovation, dedication, and reliability in Pakistan.

Findings/Analysis:
Organization Hierarchy:
The hierarchy of the organization can be understood by the following: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Three personals work under CEO Chief Operating Officer (COO) Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Chief Finance Officer (CFO)

Under each of these officers The following Hierarchy is established: Directors Senior Manager Manager Specialist Team Leads/Associates Executive 2 Executive 1 Technicians

Research problems and methods:


In this study we interviewed the company personal. We collected our information from different workers of the firm about the systematic working of the it department. The IT department of Worldcall is divided into 4 fundmental branches i.e.:
Architecture and development:

This branch does the planning of all the tasks running through the firm
ICT services:

This branch deals with the customer care sector


Operations department:

This branch performs tasks related to software development and management


Stock maintenance department:

They maintain records of purchases and sales done for official use

Infrastructure:
The existing infrastructure of the company Present in ITC office mainly consists of: 45 printers 30 laptops 35 servers 200 PCs

Cost:
The cost of existing infra structure is about 12 million rupees. This cost contains several articles of worth: Severs 3.5 million PCs 0.5 million Printers 1.8 million Laptops 1.76 million, etc

Utility of IT infrastructure:
The current IT infrastructure is very user friendly. All the new users are given training first to perform tasks on the setup. The operations branch of the company keeps the maintenance of systems and software affairs. They also work as quality assurance department.
