Introduction: 45 minutes English tests are achievement tests. They are used to measure the extent of learning in a prescribed content domain, often in accordance with explicitly stated objectives of learning program. These tests may uses for program evaluation as well as for certification of a learning competence. It follows that such tests normally come after a program of instruction and that the components or items of the tests are draw from the content of instruction directly.

2. Background:

This test was designed for grade eleven after finishing a period of a course. Students are tested what they have learned to evaluate their studying. This test consists of four parts: Phonetics, Vocabulary and Grammar, Reading and Writing with 3 objective and subjective items: multiple-choice test item, short answers and rewriting sentences. Part 1: Phonetics (5 questions) One question gives 4 words with 3 words having similar pronunciations and 1 words having different pronunciation from others. Students must find out the different word. Part 2: vocabulary and grammar: Vocabulary (5 questions): students must choose the most suitable word to fill in the blank. Grammar (10questions): there are 4 underlining phrase. Students must find out which is incorrect one. Part 3: Reading (10 questions) students read the passage and answer questions. Part 4: Writing (10 questions) students must use structures they have learnt to rewrite sentences.
