What are the verbs used in Bloom’s
Taxonomy?
1. Knowledge
Action Verbs: list, define, name, recall, recognize, describe,
identify
Example Objective: "By the end of this lesson, students will be
able to list the major components of a cell."
2. Comprehension
Action Verbs: explain, summarize, interpret, discuss, describe,
paraphrase, classify
Example Objective: "By the end of this session, students will be
able to explain the process of photosynthesis in their own
words."
3. Applying
Action Verbs: use, implement, demonstrate, apply, perform,
operate, solve
Example Objective: "By the end of this lab, students will be able
to demonstrate the use of a microscope to observe cellular
structures."
4. Analysis
Action Verbs: analyze, compare, contrast, evaluate, dissect,
organize, categorize, infer
Example Objective: "By the end of this module, students will be
able to analyze different statistical methods and compare their
effectiveness for various types of data."
5. Creating
Action Verbs: design, construct, develop, formulate,
generate, invent, compose, plan
Example Objective: "By the end of this project, students will
be able to create a detailed business plan for a startup
company."
6. Evaluating
Action Verbs: assess, critique, judge, evaluate, argue,
defend, justify, recommend
Example Objective: "By the end of this course, students will
be able to evaluate the credibility of different sources of
information and justify their choices."

accuracy on a worksheet.
(Objective for Science Grade 7):
Audience: Grade 7 students
Behavior: Describe the stages of the water cycle
Condition: After viewing an interactive video
Degree: With 100% accuracy on a worksheet
Example 2:
After reading two assigned texts, high school students will
be able to analyze the causes of the Civil War by writing a
500-word essay citing at least three causes.
( Objective for English Language Arts Middle School):
Audience: Middle school students
Behavior: Write a persuasive essay
Condition: After learning about persuasive writing
techniques
Degree: Using at least two persuasive techniques taught in
class

documents from the American Civil War and
write a 5-page research paper that integrates
at least five sources with a critical evaluation of

deliver a 5-minute persuasive speech using
visual aids and appropriate rhetoric with a
clarity and engagement rating of at least 4
out of 5 on the peer evaluation rubric."
