Becoming the CHANGE!

Due to a decrease in donations the Salvation Army had to withdraw from their own funds to meet high demands during last years holiday season. This was unacceptable and when EWB-CPP heard of this we had to step in and BE THE CHANGE. Led by EWB-CPP member Daniel Ramos , a can food drive competition was organized. Engineering clubs such as SHES, ITE, SWE, and CWEA were involved. The wining club would get free food during their next general meeting. All the clubs did a sensational job gathering donations. But thanks to the amazing EWB-CPP members we were able to raise the most donations. Engineers Without Borders would like to thank the participating clubs and their members. With your collaboration we were able to raise approximately $200 in donations.

Laughing For A Cause

November 10, 2011 EWB-CPP hosted its first major fundraising event at Flappers Comedy Club of Claremont on November 10, 2011. It was an opportunity to laugh, eat, and network with members, officers, and alumni while supporting a good cause. The funds raised will benefit struggling communities here at home and abroad. Comedians such as Michael Rayner, Dave Reinitz, Laura Hayden, Adam Fanshier, Mike Hover, and William Nickerson performed during the event. They were hilarious, poking fun at science, math and engineering all at a good cause. We would like to thank those who attended and Flappers Comedy Club of Claremont for organizing the event and their generous donations.

Thanksgiving Potluck
By: Trevor Law November 19, 2011 EWB held its first annual Thanksgiving potluck at the 'E-dub' house in Walnut, CA on November 19, 2011. Members came to share their cooking skills and discuss ways to develop current and future projects. Students of several different levels were present, from freshman and sophomores to recent graduates. It was a great opportunity for members to network and learn how they could contribute to the club's service goals. Before eating Esteban Villanueva gathered everyone for a moment of silence so that everyone could appreciate the material abundance we are able to enjoy. Several different cultures, Chinese, Korean, Columbian, and American, were represented in the dishes members brought. The most complex culinary work was from former EWB project manger, Jorge Ortizs Pavo Relleno, which included chicken, bacon, olives, and prunes stuffed inside a turkey.
