Blue Rock and More
Jas W. Glover offers a number of aggre-
gate products through several operations,
which include:
■ Hilo, Hawaii - The company’s Mana
quarry, located next to the Hilo Inter-
national Airport, supplies blue rock that
is manufactured into a variety of prod-
ucts including ready-mix concrete, grout,
gunnite, asphaltic concrete, cold patch
and hollow-tile block. It also offers pre-
cast concrete products such as founda-
tion blocks, parking bumpers and
gate in various grades – from base course
to masonry sand, and No. 3 rock com-
monly used in rock gardens.
■Kona, Hawaii -The company’s Kona
operation is located off the Queen
Kaahumanu Highway in Honokohau.
It says its ready-mix concrete helps
to lay foundations for and has con-
tributed to much of the growth and
development on the west side of the
island.
■Lihue, Kauai – Jas. W. Glover operates
two quarries on the island of Kauai. The
Halfway Bridge quarry, located in the Puhi
area, was established in the late 1930s in
response to Army Corps of Engineers
construction projects.
The quarry is a major supplier of
crushed aggregate in various grades,
from base course to basaltic termite
barrier (BTB), as well as No. 3 rock.
“[We are] the only supplier on [the
island of] Kauai to offer BTB – a proven
termite deterrent,” the company says.
The other quarry, the Mahaulepu
Quarry in Poipu, offers sand and lime-
stone aggregates. ■
