Question 1 A 35-year-old male is reported missing on Saturday morning. He was last seen driving away from work the previous evening. On Monday afternoon, his burnt car is discovered in the veld. A charred body is extricated from the remains of the vehicle and taken to the local Forensic Pathology Laboratory (state mortuary). Identify and discuss the autopsy challenges in such cases. (10) How can the pathologist determine whether the person was alive at the time of the fire? She had strangulation marks of the anterior neck and signs of asphyxiation. Her pants and underpants were removed and the investigating officer, Inspector Know Better, suspects rape.
