Letter cutting is a form of inscriptional


architectural lettering closely related to
monumental masonry and stone carving,
often practiced by artists, sculptors, and
typeface designers.

In our activity a while ago, you cut letters


with patterns. This time, we wll cut it
using our imagination only.

The first letter that we will do is letter U.


But first, let us know the process or steps
on how we will cut it.

Cutting Letter “U”


-Upper case size: 5 by 3 inches (The students will follow the
-Lower case size: 4 by 4 inches steps of cutting letters from U
to X)
Step 1: Fold the paper in half. It should be
vertical.
Step 2: Focus on the close folded paper
and start cutting horizontally before the
edge of both sides by 1 inch. Step 3:
Then, cut it in slightly curve, going up.
Step 4: Next is cutting from the top of the
left side of the folded paper going down,
and a slightly curve straight to the other
side.

Cutting Letter “V”


-Upper case size: 5 by 3 inches
-Lower case size: 4 by 4 inches

Step 1: Fold the paper in half. It should be


vertical.
Step 2: Focus on the close folded paper.
Start cutting 1 inch away from the edge of
the paper, going up in a diagonal way.
Step 3: Then, 1 inch away from the paper
on the right side, cut it diagonally too.

Cutting Letter “W”


-Upper case size: 5 by 3 inches
-Lower case size: 4 by 4 inches

Step 1: Fold the paper in half. It should be


vertical.
Step 2: Focus on the open folded paper.
Start cutting diagonally, 2 inches away
from both sides in the lower side, going to
the upper left corner of it.
Step 3: From the lower right corner, 1
inch away from the edge of the paper, cut
it diagonally going to the upper right side
of it (2 inches away from the lower right
corner).
Step 4: Then, from the upper right corner,
cut it diagonally in a downward direction
and stop for a second in the half side of
the lower part. After that, continue it in
upward direction (2 inches away from
both sides of the upper one).

Cutting Letter “X”


-Upper case size: 5 by 3 inches
-Lower case size: 4 by 4 inches

Step 1: Fold the paper in half. It should be


horizontal. Then fold it again vertically.
Step 2: Focus on the close folded paper.
Start cutting from the lower right corner
going to upward direction (1 and half
inches).
Step 3: Then, on 1 and half inches from
the lower side of the paper, cut it
diagonally in upward position going to the
upper left corner of it.
