HOST 1: Yes, Rozzaine, we all know that Sendong victimized millions of properties, and, worst of all it killed thousands of innocent lives. HOST 2: And here with us today are three Cagay-anons, who fortunately, survived this tragedy. Isabel Oflas, a mother of two children who are still missing, Jessa Pincas, daughter of the Barangay Captain of th Barangay Manticao, and Rosalyn Ranada, a 4 year high school student. ( ) Okay, first of all, welcome to ____________, and thank you so much for coming here despite of what happened. We re so sorry about that. (May tatango. May magsasabing It s ok ) RICH GIRL.=): Oh, can I talk first?... Oh, well, I was on Facebook and I was gonna post IT S SO COLD IN HERE! ARGGGHHH! I was gonna click Post .. then electricity suddenly went off! I was pissed. I was like, Who the hell are you to disturb me? I m on Facebook, HELLO?! But then daddy tells me that his constituents need our help, so, I was like, Ok, they re gonna have to see my beautiful face oh well, whatever helping out! But, you know, after helping out for a while, all of a sudden I felt happy. Yeah. STUDENT: It was a little late at night. My whole family was asleep but I was still studying. Then the light in my kerosene lamp suddenly went off. I woke up my parents and my six sisters. Good thing they did. But.. I m sorry I don t wanna remember the whole thing. All that I could tell you was that the next thing I knew, they were all gone and I was alone. With my kerosene lamp. Can t find them anymore. MOTHER: ( .) HOST 2: Okay, so after all that what was the first thing that came to your mind? RICH GIRL: Well, aside from my notifications. That life was more important than them. STUDENT: School. And then also of who was the one to blame. And I knew right away it was me. I learned it in school and yet I don t do what I was taught. MOTHER: My family. Then HOST 2: Thank you so much for your wonderful answers. WE ll hand you now over to Mae-Ann. Q AND A .. NA MAY AUDIENCE. HAHAHA HOST 1: Yes, thank you, Rozzaine. We ve just started the discussion and now we have a question! Yes? Your name please, and your question: AUDIENCE 1: (Pakilala ang sarili). So , after all that s happened you think you ve moved on? RICH GIRL: Yes. Why not? STUDENT: Probably. I hope so.

MOTHER: No. But I m trying . HOST 1: Alright! Thanks a lot for that question! Now we also have three special guests this morning! From the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center, Mr. Mark Jason Mendoza; from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Mr. Ken Joseph Novilla; and from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Ms. Angela Lumanog. Good morning..! First, to you, Mr. Mendoza, we all know that Sendong killed a lot of people and that there were lots of casualties. But really, what are the numbers behind Sendong? NDRRMC: ( ) HOST 1: Thank you, Sir! Now, Mr. Novilla, what do you think is the main cause of the tragedy of Sendong? DENR: Definitely illegal logging. We have been banning it for a long time but it seems that a lot of people still do it. What s worse is that Cagayan de Oro and Iligan are low-situated areas, and there is a part of these cities that have houses near to rivers. And with no trees to seep in the rainwater, the residents haven t got protection anymore. And this is what happened. HOST 1: Alright. Thanks, Mr. Novilla. And now, Ms. Lumanog. What does your agency or your department do to help the victims of Sendong? DSWD: Right now, we are planning the relocation of many families there, especially the children, the senior citizens, and pregnant women. We also help the younger victims recover from the disaster through encouraging them to express them to express themselves in drawing and writing and in reading inspirational children s books. HOST 1: Thank you, Ms. Lumanog. Oh, wait, we have another question! Yes, please. AUDIENCE 2: Do you think there is still a chance for us Filipinos to improve in the way we treat our environment? NDRRMC: That is what we all really hope for. Although I m not so sure if it will happen. I just do hope that finally, after the tragedy of Sendong, we will finally learn our lesson. DENR: True. If we don t stop illegal logging, then no doubt, Sendong will come again. Or even something worse than it. And there is the same cycle deaths and casualties will never be gone. Until we finally change for the better and sto p cutting trees. Not only that, we are also saving wildlife and prolonging earth s life. DSWD: And we preserve this planet for our children so that they can still have something to call home in the coming years. HOST 1: Thank you so much to our special guests for sharing your thoughts with us. Back to you, Rozzaine. HOST 2: Thanks a lot, Mae-Ann. Now come on over here with me. And before we say goodbye, let s thank our guests for today for sharing your life stories with us and letting us learn from them. Thank you also to our very participative audience. HOST 1: And also, once again, thanks to our band SYNTAX ERROR for your inspiring song earlier.=) HOST 2: And that wraps up another special episode of your one and only talk show that loves and cares about Mother Earth! I am the beautiful Rozzaine Joy Mancilla ;) HOST 1: And I am the even more beautiful Mae-Ann Ramos.. :) BOTH: And this has been ______! Good morning everyone! END!
