Charts In Excel
Definition: A tool to represent data graphically.
In Microsoft Excel, a chart is often called a graph. A chart is a powerful tool that allows
you to visually display data in a variety of different chart formats such as Bar, Column,
Pie, Line etc.
Benefits :
i. Allows to understand the data easily.
ii. Helps in analysis and future planning.
Creation of charts in Excel
1. Select data for the chart.
2. Select Insert > Recommended Charts.
3. Select a chart on the Recommended Charts tab, to preview the chart. Select a
chart.
4. Select OK.
5. When the chart is inserted along with the table, it is called embedded chart.
MOVE CHART
You can also paste the chart in a different work sheet.
● To do this,Right click anywhere on your chart.From the menu select move
chart.Then a dialog box will pop up.
● Select the first option if you want your chart in a new worksheet,and then type a
name of your own
When the chart moves to new sheet , it is pasted in a new sheet
without the table .And this is called chart sheet.

1) Click the Insert tab;
2) Go to the Chart Layouts group;
3) Select one chart type and insert a chart into worksheet;
4) Select the chart, and then Design tab, Layout tab, and Format tab appear
in the far right of Ribbon.

Format -This option is used to format the chart.
Types of chart
Bar graphs use rectangular blocks to represent many different types of data,it is used
for comparison whereas line graphs use lines and represent trends over time
particularly well.
