2 Modifying the IP Address of the SYNLOCK V3

Description
This operation enables you to modify the IP address of the SYNLOCK V3.

Note
The SYNLOCK V3 is connected to the maintenance terminal with crossover cables in the Point To Point (P2P) mode. For other modes, the ordinary network cables are used. Before the device is delivered, the IP address of the maintenance network port is preset and pasted on the protection module in the upper left corner of the chassis. If the IP address of the maintenance network port is unknown, you must connect the device with serial port cables, set or query the IP address of the device, and connect the device with network cables.

Procedure (device IP address is unknown)

Step 1 Connect the serial port of the maintenance terminal to Console 1 or Console 2 of the SYNLOCK V3 with the serial port cable. Step 2 Log in to the centralized maintenance terminal of the SYNLOCK.

Both the user name and password are Admin. Step 3 Double click the NE view node on the navigation tree to display the NE View-NE Topology View window. Step 4 Right click the blank area, and select Create NE to display the Set NE Properties dialog box. Step 5 In the Communication Mode area, select the Serial Port check box, and select Serial Port and Baud Rate (9600), as shown below.

Step 6 Click OK. The prompt window of the maintenance terminal displays "Log in the NE succeeds!" on the Maintenance output tab and the connection line between the new NE and the local terminal node is green in the NE View-NE Topology View window. Step 7 Select the new NE, right click, and select Modify BITS Properties to display the Remote Modification of BITS Properties dialog box, as shown below.

Step 8 Modify IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway, and select Baud Rate of Serial Port 1and Baud Rate of Serial Port 2 (19200), as shown below. For details, see "3.5.8 Modifying NE Properties".

Step 9 Click OK, and click OK in the prompt dialog box that appears. Step 10 At the reset prompt, reset the MITU board. For details, see "6.2.6 Monitoring MITU Board".
After resetting the MITU board, select the baud rate as 19200 in the Set NE Properties dialog box if you connect the serial port of the maintenance terminal to Console 1 or Consol 2 serial port of the SYNLOCK V3 with the serial port cable.

Step 11 Select the new NE, right click, select Modify NE Connection Properties, select the TCP/IP check box in the Communication Mode area, input the new IP address of the device, and click OK. Step 12 Connect the network port of the maintenance terminal to the LAN1 network port of the SYNLOCK V3 with the network cable, and set the IP address of the maintenance terminal.
If the network connection is normal, The prompt window of the maintenance terminal displays "Log in the NE succeeds!" on the Maintenance output tab and the connection line between the new NE and the local terminal node is green in the NE View-NE Topology View window.

Step 13 In the NMS center, use the Telnet command to check whether the device can log into the NMS normally. That is, in the Telnet window of the NMS, input telnet ***.***.***.*** 3000. Where, ***.***.***.*** represents the device IP address. If the interface which is similar to the interface below appears, it indicates that the device can log in to the NMS normally.
