I.INTRODUCTION A. source of referral January 5-7 2012 Taloy Norte, Tuba benguet January 12-14 2012 Taloy Norte, Tuba Benguet B. Reason of choice of study The Family Case Study is an important tool in delivering efficient care to the client because it helps the nurse assess the family's health status, the current or potential health problems and it also helps the nurse in finding solutions to the identified problems. It is a systematic way for the nurse to prioritize the problems as well as the solutions. It is also a tool for the student to have an in-depth knowledge of the family and its condition, in knowing the family the nurse will also know the community and its other inhabitants. C. Expected benefits to be derived from study To help the family attain a wellness state

To establish a good rapport to the family to gain their trust for them to share with me the information needed for this case study To identify health threats, health deficit, and stress points present in their family To enhance their knowledge about health promotion and disease prevention To make a family nursing care plan appropriate for their problems II. Mang Ronel s Income as a jar maker is not enough for their family though Manang Analyn and Manang Annabel works as a laundry woman, they dont have a stable job. They are just waiting for people to demand their service. Aling Martha is the one deciding about money matters and how should be spent. He wishes to give his housemates a better life but since he weren t able to finish his studies, it is impossible so they are just sharing what they have and what can he provide in their everyday life. Also Mang Ronel and Aling Martha finished High School Level only. All of the members of the family are Roman Catholic. They dont often go to church for a mass, they only go if there is a special ocassion like birthday, christmas and new year. They are not affiliated into any other groups, they are Ilocano.

3. Environmental Factors
The environment is a detrimental factor in the health of the family, by assessing the environment around the family and the community the nurse can then assess the potential hazards to the clients. My client is very particular when it comes to their surrounding, the front yard is always clean and free of any garbage. Inside the house they have adequate furnitures, the house is also adorned with different decors coming from several countries that the children has worked on. They also have a lot of family pictures. Unlike some in the community who get their water from the spring pout, the family has their own spring pout in their backyard and that is there primary source of water. Their backyard is a bit unruly because they have a lot of plants and it is a bit congested, it is also where you can find the toilet which is made up of concrete and

is separated from the house, it is a manual flush toilet and it is generally clean and sanitary. The community is spacious and the houses have moderate proximity with another, they are also near the kampo and mosquitoes and flies are often a problem. Most of the houses are made with concrete but a fair number of houses are also made of wood or a mixture of both.As to different services in the community such as health facilities, they do not avail of it very much since they go to Baguio General Hospital for check up whenever they are sick. My client's communication facilities are adequate because even though they don't have landlines they own cellphones, they also have a television set and radio. 4. During night time, they use mosquito net as a protective measure from mosquitoes. They use sleepers wherever they as as a proctection for their feet. They do use katol in driving away mosquitoes. They have a good sleep pattern eventhough they dont have adequate living space they still have a enough rest and sleep. They usually treat common illness such as cold, cough and fever with over the counter drugs like paracetamol and pain relievers.

VII.RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FURTHER FAMILY CARE To the Clinical Instructors Despite the responsibilities given and the different pressures around, the clinical instructors still managed to overcome certain situations in the community with confidence and respect. They were willingly able to impart their vast knowledge and experiences regarding Community Health Nursing. They offered their uttermost guidance, patience, support and understanding that paved a way for the students to learn and apply those teachings given. Thus, the members of the group recommend the clinical instructors to continue their helpful acts that made them role models to different student nurses. To the Barangay Health Officials and Workers To be able to help and provide proper health care and services, the workers of the Barangay Health centers should continue to portray being role models to the residents of the community. They should also be more open and accommodating in order to be effective health teachers. Lastly they should be updated with the latest studies and researches for prevention and the betterment of the quality of health services. To the Solis Family In order to acquire more knowledge regarding health, the family should engage in certain different programs that can serve as a basis in handling health matters at home. In certain situations which require appropriate health actions, decision-making is very crucial and the health of all the family members are at risk, the integration of promotion and maintenance of health are essential. If the family encounters a certain illness, they should go to the Barangay Health Center for proper consulation and diagnosis. The family should also be open to the suggestions and introduction of health teachings for them to practice regularly at home to manage good health conditions. Moreover, as concern and responsible residents of the community, the family should share and impart their newly acquired knowledge to their neighbors, friends and to the rest of the people in the community. To the Student Nurses Exposures in the community strengthened the meaning of being a Student Nurse. It unlocks certain opportunities for the Student Nurses to handle real situations in the community and allow them to deal and interact with different types of families, and also apply Nursing knowledge and skill. In order to properly provide health actions, the student nurse should be patient and willingly able to assist in certain situations when required. To the Members of the Group During the community exposure, responsibilities, hardships and obstacles are encountered but with patience and hard work everything may come to pass, along with the moral lessons. Hence , we encourage the members of the group to be dedicated in their work, working together as one and be open to suggestions from others. Unity acts as key to success, we should properly utilize this trait to achieve our objectives. VII. Reference: Community Health Nursing by Aracelli Maglaya
