Computer Aided Decision Support Systems (CADSS) - Web course

COURSE OUTLINE The objective of this course is to provide students with a working knowledge of topics related to Decision Support Systems design and implementation. Concepts and tools will be introduced that will be applied to different problems in Industrial Engineering. Students will be introduced to the concepts of modeling, including simulation models and/or mathematical and empirical models, to provide for decision support. Concepts of alternative analysis and its significance to manufacturing problems will be demonstrated. Upon completion of the class, students should be able to develop their own decision support system applications that integrate databases and models with an intuitive user interface. Additionally, the course also aims at exploring recent trends and advancements in decision support systems, especially the MRP and ERP systems with knowledge bases. Contents: Pre-requisites: 1. Operations Research for Management Basic computer programming skills. Additional Reading: 1. Literature on Enterprise Resource Planning, Manufacturing Resource Planning, Inventory systems, Artificial Intelligence etc.
