BUS SCHEDULING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Project Description Bus services play a major role in the provision of public transport.

These services can take many forms, varying in distance covered and types of vehicle used, and can operate with fixed or flexible routes and schedules. Services may be operated by public or private companies, and be provided using bus fleets of various sizes.

Many public bus services are run to a specific timetable giving specific times of departure and arrival at waypoints along the route. These are often difficult to maintain in the event of traffic congestion, breakdowns, on/off bus incidents, road blockages or bad weather. Predictable effects such as morning and evening rush hour traffic are often accounted for in timetables using past experience of the effects, although this then prevents the opportunity for drafting a clock face timetable where the time of a bus is predictable at any time through the day.

Every province or even cities have a lot of different bus companies and stations for bus services. JAC Liner Inc. is one of the largest bus companies in the Philippines serving the riding public en-route to Southern Tagalog provinces which includes key destinations in the provinces of Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Marinduque and Northern Luzon (which is now operated by Solid North Transit Inc., a new subsidiary company). The Jac Liner branch or station located at Balibago, Complex is still using the traditional method in scheduling the bus. For this reason, our group will propose a computerized bus scheduling management system to ease the management of data and to have a more systematized and easy access way of doing bus scheduling part and booking process within the bus company. To gather the needed information and requirements for the proposed system, we conducted interviews and observations about the company. In this documentation you will understand the nature of advanced Information Technology and infrastructure that is significant to the proposed system. This will also present the forms, reports and other data requirements used in the current system. We will employ the gathered information to analyze further the possible problems that the office is encountering and the existing system they are using. To sum it up, the proposed system will be of great to the said bus company.

Objectives General Objectives

To be able to design a system that will result for further development of the current system.

To provide solution to the traditional way of bus scheduling and booking process.

Specific Objective y To provide organized and structured database for more efficient way of accessing of records and to be able to create a more systematized and efficient system of bus scheduling. Scope and Limitation y The scope of this project covers the bus scheduling with relation to Database Management System that the office or organization is into. Statement of the Problem(s) y y y How can the bus company be able to monitor well the bus scheduling? How can the bus company be able to maximize the time in doing scheduling? Where have been the information being record for their buses details or properties being recorded? y What is more efficient way of processing their booking?

Proposed Solution(s) With regards to this problem, we will propose to develop an information system for the office. The project that will be done by the students of BSIT 3-2 is a Bus Scheduling Management System. The system has the following advantages:

Bus Scheduling Management System provides features to identify the informations and data about the buses that is owned by the company. Through the use of this system, the tasks can lessen. It saves time in doing booking process. The informations are settled properly so that it cannot encounter any problems and unnoticeable errors or lost of data. It was created to make an assurance for the details about it.

It is a more systematized and efficient ways of bus scheduling wherein the administrator would be able to see the operations of the bus company and also would be able to view details and information about the bus scheduling.
