Pinson-Clay
A stabbing occurred around 8PM, Tuesday night in the parking lot of the Food Giant shopping center on Highway 75 in Pinson. Witnesses at the scene say they were standing outside and saw the victim, a 43 year old Pinson man, walk to his car leaving from one of the stores. They noticed a man running across
the parking lot, coming up to the victim and then the man darted back across the parking lot towards the woods behind Pinson Post Office. They watched as the victim walked from the parking lot, in to the Hot N Cold Store where, according to the clerk, he showed her the wound and said he had been stabbed. She did not see the incident but immediately called for help. The clerk
said someone who was eating next door noticed the commotion and came to help stop the bleeding. The victim told those who were helping, that the man, ran up and ask for directions to Pinson High School. Then stabbed him and fled on foot. He was transported to a local hospital and later released.

Yes, 4 millimeters. That is thinner than the phone in your pocket. Other features from TVs are the 4K and 8K TVs. These have 4,000 or 8,000 pixels. And the 8K TVs are 16 times sharper than standard HDTV. Maybe sooner or later, the HD will be more High Def than reality. And then hopefully, those of us who need glasses wont anymore. COMMUNITY continued CCHS Opens Soccer Tryouts TACC announces Food Drive Sports
By David Murray
Mild and soggy weather on day one, followed by much colder temperatures on day two, greeted the nearly two dozen candidates for the first few days of soccer tryouts at ClayChalkville. Head coach Bob Adams and assistant David Shelton spent over an hour each day reviewing the skills of their athletes. This will be a team with an entirely new look, said Adams. Between graduation and either transfers or players deciding not to play at all, our 2012 boys squad will have plenty of new faces. Among the newcomers is sophomore Jonathan Ruiz, who was expected to join the CCHS tennis team, but decided to player soccer this season. On the flip-side, junior Kika Thomas opted not to play soccer this season and joined the tennis team. We certainly have lots of new folks at tryouts this week, said senior fullback Kyle Carden. We are going to need some help from many of last years junior varsity players at the varsity level this season. CCHS will be looking to sophomores, Warren LeGrand, Vidalo Kabiya and Peyton Cornett for a bulk of the teams offensive punch. Senior Alejandro Chavez is also a capable scorer from his midfield position. Kabiya was not among those attending tryouts do to his obligations with the Cougar basketball squad.

At this point, Id say we have a long way to go to return to where we were last season, said senior fullback Jonathan Douglas. Our goal is to get back to the playoffs and hopefully not get eliminated in the first round. Besides veterans like Carden, Chavez and Douglas, junior goalkeeper Micah Shelton returns for his second season as a starter. Sophomore Kaleb Cornett and Ruiz will compete for the back-up role. If there is a junior varsity squad, the two will also see minutes on that team.

Testing is underway at Daytona International Speedway as NASCAR prepares to begin the 2012 season in about a month from now. While testing their cars, they are also testing NASCARs new rules for the two restrictor plate tracks, Daytona and Talladega. N A S C A R s first rule for the drivers is to ban multiple car communications. As has been the practice over the

past couple of seasons, drivers have been able to change their scanner channels to include as many as twelve different drivers as well as their spotter and crew chief. Now, NASCAR has ruled that the driver can only speak to his, or her, crew chief and spotter. This is an effort to continue to find ways to cut down on the tandem racing that has become a frustration for fans since the two high-banked superspeedways were repaved. NASCAR knows that the fans like the pack racing better and continues to take steps towards getting back to it. Some within NASCAR circles have said it likely wont go away entirely until the two tracks have had enough use and abuse from racing that the surfaces become a bit more uneven and rougher, making it much harder to hook on to the back bumper of a car and stay there for several laps at a time. In addition, NASCAR is allowing more speed into the cars, by enlarging the restrictor plate holes, thereby allowing more air into the engines and creating more power. While at the same time, NASCAR is lowering the cooling pressure and closing up the front grills, keeping air from going through
