WMLL ANNOUNCER’S SCRIPT &

INSTRUCTIONS
Thank you for volunteering to announce the game! Using this announcer’s script, lineup cards for each team
& the WMLL laptop & PA system, you have everything you need to do a great job & have a great time!
GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN!!

PREPARATION – Tablet & Microphone Setup


See “WMLL Audio System Setup Guide” document for instructions on setting up the tablet.

PREPARATION – Lineup Sheets & Umpire Names


Here are the things you need to have BEFORE the start of the game:
 Names of the two teams playing
 Preprinted or handwritten lineup sheets for both teams (see managers if needed)
 Names & umpiring positions of both umpires
If it’s windy, use the paper clips provided to hold down the page - this helps a lot!

PREGAME - Music
Please play music as teams are warming up. For instructions on how to play music from the tablet
please see “WMLL Audio System Setup Guide” document.

PREGAME - Opening Announcements


When you are ready to begin opening announcements play ESPN’s BASEBALL TONIGHT theme song
by clicking on the top yellow box. After about 40 seconds, the music volume will automatically go down,
when this happens begin the following announcements speaking over the music.

“Good morning (or afternoon or evening) baseball (or softball) fans! Welcome to Opening Day at West
Madison Little League.” (change this as needed for league playoff games, etc.)

“Today’s game pits _________________________ against _________________________.” (Insert


team names)

“We would like to thank both these sponsors for their generous support of West Madison Little League.”

PREGAME - Player Introductions


When you are ready to begin player introductions, play SIRIUS instrumental music by clicking on the
2nd yellow box. Introduce the players while music is playing in the background.

“And now, here are the starting lineups for today’s game…”

“First, the visiting team, ________” (say team name & then introduce players #, name & position from
the lineup card.)

“And now, the home team, _________” (same as above.)


“Please welcome our umpires for today’s game. _____________ working behind the plate &
_____________ working the bases. (Insert umpire names.)

West Madison Little League would like to thank WMTV-Channel 15 whose generosity has made our
beautiful ballpark possible! We sincerely appreciate this tremendous support and thank WMTV for
making this land available for our Little League program since 1964.”

PREGAME - National Anthem & Let’s Get Ready to


Rumble
When the player and umpire introductions are complete, make the following announcement, then play
the NATIONAL ANTHEM by clicking on the 3rd yellow box.

“And now folks, we ask everyone to rise and remove your hats as we honor America with the playing of
our National Anthem.”

After the National Anthem ends, make the following announcement, then play Let's Get Ready to
Rumble by clicking on the 4th yellow box

“Let’s play some baseball (or softball)!!!!”

DURING GAME - Introducing Batters (as they walk to the plate)


Announce the batter (number & name) as they walk from the dugout to the plate. Repeat for each
batter.

"Now batting, (player number) and (player name).” Ex. “Now batting, #12, John Smith.”

DURING GAME – Between Inning Music &


Announcements
After the third out is made each half inning, please play music (see “PREGAME – Music” for
instructions) & read one of the opening day announcements (working thru all the announcements over
the course of the game.) As the first batter prepares to step into the batter's box, fade the music out by
clicking on the FADE box (pink) or pressing the ALT key.

DURING GAME - 4th Inning Stretch


After the third out is made in the top of the 4th inning, please play “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” / “Roll
Out the Barrel” by clicking on the 5th yellow box. As the first batter prepares to step into the batter's
box, fade the music out by clicking on the FADE box (pink) or pressing the ALT key.

POSTGAME – Cleanup
Please clean up the announcer’s table for the next game and, throw away your lineups, handwritten
notes, trash, etc.
