Step 1 - Install VirtualBox on

Windows 10:
1. Click here to download VirtualBox
2. Under the “VirtualBox binaries” section, click the Windows hosts link and save the installers
on your Windows 10 device.

3. Double-click the [Link] file to launch the installer.


4. Click the Next button.
5. Use the default settings selection and click the Next button.

6. (Optional) Clear the options you do not want to use.

7. Click the Next button to continue with VirtualBox install on Windows 10.
8. Click the Yes button to confirm the virtual network adapter install warning on Windows 10.

9. Click the Install button (if applicable).


10. Click the Finish button.

Once you complete the steps, the software will finish the installation, and it will launch
automatically. You can also launch VirtualBox from the Start menu like any other application .

Step 2 - Downloading Ubuntu:

Download the latest .iso file of ubuntu by clicking here.

Step3 - Create a Virtual Machine:

1 Open Virtual Box and click the New button in the toolbar.
2 Type in a descriptive name for your operating system. You can stick with the default
machine folder. Also, select the operating system that you want to later install (Linux and
Ubuntu_64 in the Type and Version fields).

3 Click Next to proceed.


4 Select the amount of memory (RAM) and then click next to proceed.

5 Make sure “Create a virtual hard disk now” is selected and click Create.

6 Select “VirtualBox Disk Image (VDI)” and click Next.


7 Choose a Fixed size virtual hard disk so that you have better performance and click Next.

8 Go with something like 50 GB for the hard disk space. Then click Create.

9 It will take several minutes to create the virtual hard disk, so be patient.
Install Ubuntu:

1. Double-click on the left panel where you see the name of the virtual machine you just
created.

2. A startup window will appear.


3. Click the Folder icon next to Empty. A popup box will appear that is titled “Optical Disk
Selector.”
4. Click Add.

Find the Ubuntu image you downloaded earlier. It is a .iso file. Select it.

5. Click Choose.
6. Click Start to proceed with that Ubuntu image.
7. Ubuntu should start launching.
8. Click on “Install Ubuntu” to install Ubuntu. You should see a window that looks something
like this.

9. Click “Continue” to save the keyboard layout. The default English one is fine.
10. Select “Normal installation” and “Download updates while installing Ubuntu.” Then click
Continue.
11. Select “Erase disk and install Ubuntu”. Then click “Install Now”.

12. Click Continue when it asks “Write the changes to the disks?”.
13. You will get to a point where you will need to set your time zone. It will be a big map of the
world that should automatically detect your location. Click Continue.
14. Type in a computer name and pick a username and password. I select the “Log in
automatically” option.
15. When installation is complete, click “Restart Now.”

16. A message will say “Please remove the installation medium, then press ENTER:”. Just
ignore it.
17. Go to File -> Close in the upper left part of the window.
18. Select “Power off the machine.” Click OK.
19. In the “Oracle VM Virtual Box Manager” window, highlight your virtual machine and click
the green arrow up top that says “Start”.
20. You should now see your Ubuntu Linux desktop.
21. Click the small white arrow in the upper-right portion of the screen. “Power Off” the
machine.
22. Highlight your virtual machine and go to Settings → Display and change your Video
Memory to 128 MB. This will give you ample video memory. Click OK.

23. Also go to Settings → System → Processor, and adjust the number of CPUs to 4. Then Click
OK.
24. To make your screen larger, log back into Linux and go to your Settings. Then go
to Display, and select your desired resolution.

Successfully we Installed Ubuntu 20.04 and VirtualBox on your Computer.
