Jaiprakash Sewa Sansthan (JSS), is a 'not-for-profit' trust. Set up in 1993, the trust aims to reduce pain and distress in the society. Founder Chairperson and a distinguished faculty in the area of Communication at IIM Lucknow for more than twelve years, Dr. Pande has also been associated with European School of Management, Paris, Fergusson College, Pune, Lucknow University, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta and IIM Indore as full time or visiting faculty. The infrastructure of the school includes facilities like Lawn Tennis court, full-size swimming pool separate for boys and girls; billiards, snooker and five TT tables are installed in indoor sports complex along with a well equipped gym facility.

Cultural Facilities
Cultural facilities include music room with acoustics, electric guitars, drum kit, bass and amps. State-of-the-art auditorium, with a sitting capacity of 3000 plus is a motivation for the artists within each JBS student. It is a delight for the music lovers and players.

Learning Resource Centre (LRC)


The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is well-stocked with Indian and International books and journals covering all areas of management, commerce, etc. to meet the needs of students, faculty and research scholars from varied areas. The library is continuously augmented with the latest books and journals to help the students keep abreast of current and contemporary issues. LRC has 35114 books with 13805 titles and 13493 print and line journals (National and International). JBS has a dedicated division of LRC with more than 4000 books and 1700 titles.

Computing Facilities
As computers are an essential tool for conducting business and delivering educational material, the University has aggressively incorporated the use of computers into the curriculum. Computer proficiency is required to succeed in MBA programme. The latest software and hardware are provided to meet the training needs of all students.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES AT JBS


JBS offers the following programmes currently:
Two-year Master in Business Administration (MBA)
JBS offers 2 year six trimesters Programme which is aimed at providing a comprehensive coverage of all important areas and disciplines for managing in the current business scenario. The Programme is designed to be intensive with an emphasis on regular and continuous work and the students are evaluated regularly to assess their progress and areas needing improvement. The curriculum is designed keeping in mind current industry requirement and peer offerings at the best business schools around the world. The programme aims to create socially sensitive managers and emphasizes on a one month social internship apart from live projects and summer internships at corporates.

Short Term Training Programmes, Consulting and Research
The MDP cell at JBS has started its operations in the current session. The endeavor is to launch short term training programmes, consulting and research activities for active participation and learning from the industry practices.

Five-year Dual Degree Management (DDM)


Dual Degree MBA is offered to bright engineers of JIIT. The first year courses are completed along with their Engineering Course and Second year is spent at JBS. The programme aims to create Managers with sound technical knowledge in the area of IT and is in line with the vision of JIIT.

Doctoral Programme in Management (Ph.D.)


JBS offers PhD in management through full time and part time mode. Currently there are 15 full-time and 14 part-time research scholars in the area of marketing, finance, HR and operations. In addition, there are 07 internal candidates who are pursuing Ph.D. programme at JBS. The scholars are expected to successfully complete a stipulated course work and to carryout research in the chosen field to submit the thesis for the award of Doctoral degree in Management.

CURRICULUM & MBA


COURSE STRUCTURE
The 2 year curriculum is divided into 6 trimesters, each trimester of 12 weeks duration. This essentially includes teaching and evaluation time. In addition 6-8 weeks of summer internship and 4 weeks of social internship are mandatory to get the degree. The programme is well structured as it emphasizes on sound foundation of basic concepts. Basic courses are introduced in each functional area of management to help the students in developing a sound foundation. In every functional area of Management modules on IT application are offered. In the first year, 24 compulsory courses and in the second year, 4 compulsory courses are offered. Along with it every student has to choose 8 functional and 4 industry elective courses. Thus, a total of 40 courses are taught in MBA programme, along with 6-8 weeks corporate internship and 4 weeks social internship. The elective courses are offered in the group of four courses to provide in-depth understanding of every functional and industry elective within which a student is specializing. The functional electives are from Marketing, Finance, HR and Operations streams. The detailed list of elective streams is provided on the next page. It is indicative and is subject to change if required as per the industry requirement.

Teaching Methodology

Summer Internship (With Financial and Industry Analysis)

UNIQUE FEATURES OF
MBA PROGRAMME

The duration of internship is 6-8 weeks. Detailed Financial and Industry Analysis is one of the compulsory components of the summer internship. The industry analysis may cover; Industry size and trends of growth, Competitive analysis, Position of the company in terms of Market share etc., Corporate mission and objectives, Portfolio analysis, Sector & Market Segment. For the Financial Analysis, students are expected to calculate as well as its interpretation in Business context the Analysis of balance sheets, Profit & loss statements of the company for last three financial years in terms of minimum three ratios in each of the following categories and also analysis of cash flow statements for last 3 years: Liquidity ratios, Profitability ratios, Activity ratios and Leverage ratios. The final part of the report is detailed study on the Marketing, Operations and Finance & HR practices or details of the specific field based project assigned during the internship.

Emphasis on fundamentals
The programme emphasizes on sound foundation of basic concepts and, therefore, 24 compulsory courses are introduced in first year and 12 elective plus 4 core courses to be covered in second year of 3 credits each.

Social Internship
Social internship at JBS focuses on bringing in societal orientation among the students. It includes 7.5 hours of modular teaching and 4 weeks of field interaction at any NGO of repute. During the internship the students are expected to understand the gravity of the social issues, their magnitude and implications, study the government policy, role of NGOs and their functioning.

IT integration
In every functional area of Management, modules on IT applications are offered. These modules are like Humanitarian logistics, HR- MIS, ERP for Supply Chain Management. Select IT software are used for such modules.

Personality Development
JBS curriculum actively co-produces learning and development - all round, comprehensive and complete development of students at both individual and group levels. The learning schedule builds time for self study, group study and developmental activities like functional clubs, competitions, presentations, case studies etc. to boost inner confidence and motivation.

The elective courses are offered in a group of 4 courses. This is basically done with the objective to provide in-depth understanding of the subject, for example- Elective sets of 4 courses each in Financial Management, International Finance and Financial Services.

Collaboration with International Universities
With the vision of the Group, JIIT/JBS has signed MOUs with several leading universities in India and overseas. JBS believes in the power of academic networking around the globe and is in discussion with several universities for exchange programmes and other collaborations for our students and faculty. Student exchange programmes exist with select 'B' Schools globally. ADMISSION PROCESS & FEE STRUCTURE


(MBA BATCH 2012-14)
Eligibility
Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in any discipline from a statutory university with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates graduating by 30th June, 2012 can also apply but must prove their eligibility latest by September 30, 2012. Those not producing the eligibility certificates as per the date mentioned will be disqualified/de-registered irrespective of their having joined the program provisionally.

Important Dates
Issue of JBS Application Forms Starts: 15th December 2011. Last Date for Submission of JBS Application Form: Ist Round - 31st January 2012: for those who have appeared in CAT'11 or MAT in December'11 or earlier MAT. Scores must be valid upto February 2012 or later. 2nd Round - (if required) 28th February 2012: for those who have appeared in CAT'11 or those who may appear/appeared in MAT February'12 or earlier MAT Examination. Scores must be valid upto February 2012 or later. The details shall be loaded on the website. 1st Batch-I: Second week of February Additional Batch (if required): Middle of March

Tentative Dates of GD and PI :

Selection Process
Applicants seeking admission are required to have completed the CAT/MAT/GMAT for the current session. The score must be valid upto February 2012 or later. Short-listed applicants (on the basis of relative merit in received applications) will be called for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). Submission of application does not qualify the candidate for GD/PI and no refund of application fee is permissible on any account. The final selection will be based on the Test Score, language proficiency, work experience and performance in the GD & PI.

Fee Structure
MBA Programme: The tuition fee for the 2-year programme for batch 2011-12 is Rs. 4.8 lakhs. This is subject to revision. Any change in fee for 2012-14 batch will be notified at time of admission. For refund policy see separate note. Further, the student shall be required to pay Rs. 13000/- per year towards the cost of study material and books which shall be supplied by the JBS. The above tuition fee does not include the cost of laptop and hostel charges, etc.

How To Apply
Obtain the application form from JIIT in person or by sending the application fee of Rs. 1200/- or apply online at www.getadmissions.com. Those applying online must carefully read the instructions regarding submission of the hard copy of the application. The completed application forms must be submitted along with a photocopy of CAT/MAT and GMAT Score card and graduation mark sheet (if already qualified).

Refund Policy
In compliance to Instructions of MHRD, the JIIT shall refund the amounts deposited by the candidates who wish to withdraw before the last date of admission process (as specified in the admission offer letter) after deducting a processing fee of Rs. 1000/- (one thousand only), provided the seat vacated by the candidate is filled up, otherwise the entire fee shall be forfeited.

JBS has 21 full time faculty members. Of these 14 are with Ph.D Degree and the others have Industry experience. The average academic experience of faculty is 9.5 years while the average industry experience is more than 10 years. Thus, JBS faculty has right blend of industry and academic base. Select courses and modules are taught by international faculty/guest faculty from the industry. In addition, JBS has 18 Research Scholars. A K Vadehra: Has more than four decades experience in Corporate and teaching. He was General Manager at IFCI and president of a real estate company, and has taught at premier business schools like MDI. He is an Independent professional director and consultant to many business houses. An alumnus of IIT Roorkee & FMS Delhi. Ashok Wahi: Served corporate at senior level in the field of IT. He has been actively involved in the areas of IT, Operations Management and HRD at organizations like Nestle, Convergys, ICI, Dresdner Bank and also consulted for organizations like A.F. Ferguson & Co. He is an engineer from IIT-Delhi and MBA from FMS-Delhi. G K Aggarwal: Served at senior positions in corporate like J.K. Group, Modi Group, Bhilwara Group and TCS. He has been a faculty at IIT-Kanpur and Delhi and also has been teaching at various management and professional institutes. He is a Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary and a Cost and Management Accountant. Naseem Abidi: Started his career as a software professional with National Informatics Centre, under the Ministry of Communication and IT. His academic career has been spent at various universities in India, UK and UAE. A University Gold Medalist he has an M.Tech and Ph.D in future studies and planning. Hima Gupta: Has served in Bhilwara Group and Bakshi Group of companies for 5 years and as a Project Officer for NITRA and ATIRA 5 years. She has been a faculty for the past 8 years, at reputed business schools. A textile engineer from GCIT, she did her PGDBM from IMT and has a Ph.D in Management. Siddharth Mishra: Has almost two decades of corporate experience in the area of consumer electronics and IT. He has worked with Samsung, HCL, LG, Onida and Godrej. Before joining full time Academics, he taught at various premier B-Schools as a Visiting Faculty. A mechanical engineer, he is an Alumnus of IIM-Ahmedabad. Rajnish Kumar Mishra: has a total of 12 years of teaching experience in Human Resource Management Area. He has taught at renowned institutes like IIM Rohtak, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore, Asia - Pacific Institute of Management, KIIT University Bhubaneswar, and Symbiosis Pune. He has also received the young researcher award from AICTE. Nripendra Singh: Started his career with Videocon Industries before moving in to full time research at reputed institutes like IIM-Lucknow and University of Lucknow. He has a total of 12 years of experience. He is a double MBA and a Ph.D in Business Administration. Jitendra Kumar Mishra: Has more than a decade experience in teaching, Research, training and consultancy at premier institutes. He is a corporate trainer in the area of globalization and WTO. He has a Masters in Economics and a Ph.D in economics from Devi Ahilya University. S. Suresh: Work with Godrej and NIIT, he has been training consultant to organizations like Maruti, Yamaha and Hero Honda. He has taught at various Premier institutes like BIMTECH. He is Electrical Engineer from Osmania University and an Alumnus of IIM-Calcutta. Asit Bandopadhyay: Worked for corporates for 3 years and began his academic career at university of Bardhwan and has an academic experience of nine years. He has taught SCM & Operations Management at various premier Business Schools. He is an MBA in systems and operations with a Ph.D in Management. Moonis Shakeel: Has more than 7 years of experience in Corporate and Teaching. He has worked in the Corporate Sector with CMIE and EvalueServe in the areas of Financial Economics. He also worked under various ministries and government bodies such as Planning Commission and Ministry of IT. He has a Masters and Ph.D in Economics. Dimple Grover: Has been teaching and researching for the past 12 years at various reputed institutions. She has taught and researched at university of Bradford (UK and McMaster University (Canada) and is currently undergoing Global leadership training at East West Centre Hawaii. She has masters in Psychology and Ph.D in Corporate Governance from IIT-Delhi. Rahul Sharma: is a career educationist with a decades experience in academics. He had taught at various institutions like ICFAI Hyderabad, and St. John's College, Agra. He is a Post Graduate in commerce and a Ph.D in commerce. He also has been trained at IIM-Indore. Jhumur Sen Gupta: A career research and Academician. She has taught for more than half a decade at various colleges under DU. She also has been a faculty at ICR on International Economic Relations and National Institute of Public Finance and Policy. She has a Masters from JNU and Ph.D from Calcutta University. Debdeep De: Has more than six years experience in Research and Teaching of International Economics and Management at reputed institutes. He has been an advisor to projects sponsored by APEDA, UNESCAP and worked as an Assistant Editor of Journal of Services Research. He has a Masters in Economics. Sujata Kapoor: A career educationist, she has taught at reputed business schools. She has certifications in financial markets and has research interest in the area of Corporate Finance. She has an MBA in finance from UPTU and holds a Ph.D in corporate finance. M A Sanjeev: A career Sales and Marketing professional, he has worked in the industry at entry and middle management for over 14 years in the field of Pharmaceuticals, Banking and Advertising. Teaching career started with the University of Calicut. He is an alumnus of Symbiosis. Shubhangini Rathore: Worked for two years in the hospitality industry in the area of Human Resources. She worked for Taj Group of Hotels as an Assistant Managers handling Operational HR. She also has taught HR & Communication at undergraduate levels. She is an alumnus of IBS. Vinky Sharma: A career educationist and researcher, she has taught HR at reputed business schools for 2 years. She has been associated with Training and Development for Managers in various organizations. An MBA from UPTU she holds a Ph.D in Management.

PLACEMENT
Placement after education is a process dependent on knowledge, skill and attitude acquired by the students and their overall grooming. JBS prepares the students to make meaningful contribution to the corporate world by enhancing their professional abilities. The Training and Placement Cell organizes campus placement of the graduating students of all our campuses centrally, namely JIIT Noida, JUIT Solan, JUET Guna and Jaypee Business School. The cell provides complete support to the visiting companies at every stage of placement process which includes Pre-Placement Talks, Written Tests, Interviews, Group Discussion etc. Placements for 2007-09, 2008-10 and 2009-11 batches have been close to 100% despite the economic slowdown and our nascent profile. All the batches have successfully secured final placement in well reputed companies in their preferred area of specialization.
