CAD:
CAD means computer aided design which is used in creation
,modification , analyzing or optimization of design .

Here some popular Software are used for CAD:

1. SolidWorks
2. CATIA
3. NX
4. Creo
5. Fusion360°
6. AutoCAD
7. Pro-E
8. Rhino
9. 3ds Max
10. Zbrush
11. Sketch Up

3D Printing:
The 3D printing is a process which builds a three-dimensional
object from a computer-aided design (CAD) model which is usually by
successively adding material layer by layer, which is why it is also
called additive manufacturing.
There are 3 basic types of 3D printing. They are:

1.Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM).

2. Selective laser sintering (SLS).
3. Stereolithography (SLA).

SOLIDWORKS USER INTERFACE, COMMAND MANAGER
AND BASIC WORKFLOW
User Interface:
There are 6 main areas of interface you normally work with. They are-

1) Menu Bar –New File, Open File, Save, Print, Undo, Select, Rebuild, File
Properties and Options.

2) Command Manager – Access to part, assembly and drawing editing tools.

3) Feature Manager design tree – Outline overview how part, assembly and
drawing constructed.

4) Status bar – Provide an information about part, assembly and drawing.

5) Head up view toolbar – View tools such as zoom, pan, zoom plane and
section view.

6) Graphics area – Workspace for part, assembly and drawing.

Command Manager
The Command Manager is a

toolbar that dynamically

updates based on the desire

toolbar to access. When click

a tab below the Command

RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR 2D SKETCHING.

There are 3 basic planes. They are :

1.Front Plane .
GO to part design
2.Right Plane.
3.Top plane
Besides those we can create plane
through reference. There select a plane or face

There are 3 Axis. They

are : Go to sketch and select 2D
sketch
1.X
2.Y
3.Z Drawing a fully defined
sketch with the help of tools.

USE OF DIFFERENT 2D SKETCH TOOLS AND 2D
SKETCH MODIFIERS.
Line
There are midpoint , center line and line as sketched.
Circle
There are circle and perimeter circle
Spline
Spline, style spline & Equation driven curve
Rectangular
Corner, Center, 3 point corner, 3point center & parallelogram.
Arc
CenterPoint, Tangent, 3point arc.
Ellipse
Ellipse, Partial , Parabola & Conic.
Slot
Centre point Straight slot, Centre point arc slot,3point arc slot & Straight slot.
Polygon

Polygon Tools is used to draw equal side polygon.

USE OF DIFFERENT 2D SKETCH TOOLS AND 2D SKETCH
MODIFIERS.
Sketch Fillets
This tool is available for 2D and 3D sketches and it trims away intersection of two sketch entities
to create a tangent arc. It applies to the entities such as edges in part.

Sketch Chamfers
This tool is available for 2D and 3D sketches and it to applies a chamfer to adjacent sketch entities
. It applies to the entities such as edges in part.

Offset Entities
This tool can offset entities at a specific distance.

Convert Entities
This tool can convert existing geometry like edges, spline etc.

Intersection Curves
Creates curve from cross-section of Surface or Solid and plane.

© INVOLUTE TECH BD
USE OF DIFFERENT 2D SKETCH TOOLS AND 2D SKETCH
MODIFIERS.

Trim Entities
This Tool can trim desire entities like circle, line, spline etc.

Extend Entities
This tool can extend entities like circle, line, spline etc. to desire length or next entities.

Split Entities
This tool can split a sketch entity to create two sketch entities. It can delete or combine at the split
point.

USE OF DIFFERENT 2D SKETCH TOOLS AND 2D SKETCH
MODIFIERS.

Construction Geometry

You can convert sketch entities in a sketch or drawing to construction geometry.

Mirror Entities

Select Mirror Entities to mirror pre-existing 2D sketch entities on a plane, and then select the entity about which
to mirror. If you want to first select the entity about which to mirror, and then sketch the entities to mirror,
select Dynamic Mirror Entities.
.
Dynamic Mirror Sketch Entities

Select the Dynamic Mirror Entities tool to first select the entity about which to mirror, and then sketch the
entities to mirror.

Move, Copy, Rotate, Scale, or Stretch Entities

This tools are used in sketches and drawings with the Move-Copy-Rotate-Scale-
Stretch Property Manager.

Repair Sketch
This tool can find some cases repairs, sketch errors.

Sketch Picture
This tool is used to draw sketch using any imported image.

SKETCHING ON A PLANE, ADDING RELATIONS AND
DIMENSIONS.
Applying relations
Sketch relations are added by selecting the
entities and choose the appropriate
relationship. Many relationships may also
be applied by dragging and selecting a
point of one entities onto the appropriate
location on another entities.

Constraints on a single point

On selecting a point e.g. the end of a line or
the center of a circle. The user is presented
with the single option to fix. This locks the
point.
