Presenter 1: Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to our Club of the Merry and Quickwitted!

Today well travel from the USA to Great Britain, from Washington to London. I promise our trip will be merry and interesting. Presenter 2: You will learn about sightseeing in the American and British capitals. You have a good opportunity today to see the festivities and, of course, you may take part in them. You must know the rules. They are very easy. Presenter 1: You may sing and dance together with our participants and you must support them by clapping. And now let me invite our teams. Presenter 2: Let me introduce our teams. (The Capitans introduce their teams, their name, their motto and their emblems). Presenter 1: Let me introduce our judges. (NUMELE SI PRENUMELE JURIULUI) We ask you, judges, not to be too critical and forgive our participants the mistakes they may make. Presenter 2: You will listen to the text about sightseeing in Washington and London. When you have guessed what it is, raise your signal card. Try to be prompt and correct. Good luck! Of course, you have read books by English and American writers, such as: Mark Twain, Lewis Carrol, OHenry, Robert Burns, William Shakespeare. In your English classes you have learnt a lot about the famous English poet William Shakespeare. Please show your knowledge. What have you learnt about the places which connect with his name, about his biography. Have you learnt any sonnets? Presenter 2: The next point of our competition is a grammar point. Every team gets a card with a text. You must put the verb in the correct form. Tara was founded in 1594 by Andrey Eletsky. Many beautiful churches were built in the last centuries. Some old houses are safeguarded and renovated now. The only remaining church is visited by many people nowadays. If I am asked about Tara, I answer that I like my native town and I am sure that it will be improved in future. Presenter 1: Now its time for judges to say some words about the third and fourth competitions. Presenter 2: A good captain is the flag of the team. Competition of captains. The captain raises the signal card if he knows the Russian equivalent of an English proverb. Presenter 1: American and British people have many lovely holidays. You have a good opportunity to see how people celebrate Christmas, St Valentines Day and Halloween. TASK 5: Tema de acasa the Holidays in the English speaking countries.
